I've seen it discussed here previously, and I know a lot of you don't agree with using a squirt bottle to train your weims, but we bought a couple of little plastic waterguns because they are easier to carry around than a squirt bottle, and Sterling has come leaps in bounds in her training over the last couple of days. She doesn't jump all over the JRT's anymore, won't countersurf, won't chew her blanket in her crate and won't jump on us Wink
She never associates it with us. In fact, when she gets a squirt, she actually runs over to one of us to protect her...in fact, I just squirted the gun not even at her..she heard the squirt, and she stopped being rambunctios. May not work for everyone, but I'd say it's a sucess for us Smile

You know me, I am not into waterguns/squirt guns....
But if it works for you, then by all means...
but I am just curious since we've had a long talk about clicker training, why dont' you clicker train your dogs?

I used to do rat terrier and greyhound rescue. Sometimes we would have 15 dogs at the house. All barking and carrying on. We lived in one of those neighborhoods with the associations that monitor everything you do. It was imperative that I didn't get noise complaints for dog barking.

So we kept a super soaker water gun on the picnic table for times when they would start barking. After the first couple of times I could just pump it up and the whole yard would go silent.

They learn really quick. My ratties haven't been squirted in YEARS but they remember their manners if they see a squirt gun. My ex got custody of the greyhounds AND the super soaker ! !
