Otto has been getting bumps (mostly on his head) occasionally. The vet said they were fine and normal, but I don't know. They are small, probably less then 1/8 inch They go away within a week, but just wondering if anyone else has this? And what is it called? We don't do anything to treat it....

My 1 year old Weimer, has these bumps show up all over his body periodically. I give him Benadryl 50 mgs as per his weight of 70lbs.
After a couple of doses, they go away.

I believe it is allergy related. Give it a try, let me know how it works, cant hurt any...

I just discovered last night that my puppy has small bumps on her head. My boyfriend took her to the vet and they said it was too early to tell. We have been giving her peanutbutter for the last couple of days so we were wondering if it could be an allergy to peanuts? Could I have the only dog on the planet who's allergic to peanuts? I hope my puppies bumps go away as well.....

Stormy dog gets what we thought were pimples (only around her mouth, sometimes on her tummy), but I always wondered if she had an alergy because her eyes are always reddish and she is always itchy. How do you know how much to give for their weight? She is 42 lbs, so I guess I could try half your dose? I'm curious to see if it will help!

OMG I bet this is SCHATZE problem right now. We found out that she is allergic to dairy a few weeks ago so I stopped the yogurt and her skin inproved almost over night. I hadnt given her anything except her canadae and salmon oil and things have been fine.

I noticed yesterday that she has pimples on her head and a few under her arms again. I GAVE HER PEANUT BUTTER A FEW DAYS AGO!!! I bet she is allergic to that too!!!

This site is so darn helpful!!! Thanks so much to all of the people who post here.

Hi,
I saw several comments about the bumps and hair loss and unfortunately my 5 month weim is also going thru same. we tried boxes of different antibiotics and shampoos and it does not work. he is full of bumps all over his body and loosing hair slowly on those areas. he does ithc a little, not oo bad. today I changed his food to "no beef, no corn and no wheat" formula just in case if it is the food, which was eukenoba since we got him. his vet did all the tests and can't find anything, or he does not know. not sure. please help.

I can't think of anything in particular that might be causing it that's why we changed food, cut dairy, corn, wheat and beef which they say most common allergies for dogs. Since the bumps start red, dry out and loose the hair on those areas, I am starting to think it is not allergies but something else. Today I got the benedarly just in case and will give it a try, nothing to loose. has anyone heard about dog dermatologists? someone suggested to visit on instead of regular vet.

Your vet might want to do a blood panel to see if something is off in the chemistry that might be causing this - always a good precaution to take if you are as worried about it as you sound.

Also - could it be something as simple as lots of bug bites? Try spritzing them with doggy insect repellent (or diluted Avon SSS if you have it on hand) and see if that helps before they go outside? I kind of doubt bites would cause the fur to fall out - unless it's an allergic reaction to the bite itself?

Goose had bumps on his face when he was a pup; the vet said it was "puppy staph." Lola gets some on her back every couple of months or so. They don't really seem to bother her. Here is one explanation that I found:

Finally we went ot another vet and without touching him he said it looks like fungus of some sort. test came back positive for fungus and now he is on medication, once again. i think bumps are geting better but lost hair will take a while to grow. he is still loosing alot of hair all over and we hope it will stop at one point. no idea where he got it, dog park? started with the tail I think, that was the first area started to loose hair. well, lets see how the next 2 weeks look, he is going back to vet for a check.
