as a believer in kibble, my family has always fed puppy/large breed puppy foods and been happy with the results in our dogs. whether a "gimmick" or not our irish setters, boxer, GSPs and now a weim have been nourished on these foods for their first year and we've never had any growth issues. maybe we have just been fortunate or had genetics on our side since we look for working bloodlines. i wasn't aware of the controversy until i came on this site.
i do believe food quality, observing your dogs growth and remembering the bag amounts are just a guideline are all important. |

| I feed Butler the Iams Smart puppy and he seems to be doing well (hes nearly 5 months. Sometimes he wont eat it so I mix in a little peanut butter. Ive heard mixed thoughts on peanut butter, but as long as I dont over do it its fine right? |

Yeah meg, the only downside to peanut butter is it's fatty. But like you said, as long as you don't overdo it it's fine. Be sure to get as natural as you can, unsalted, etc.
My guy is on Science Diet Large Breed Puppy right now... Anybody else used this? His stools are firm and he seems to like it. I'm feeding him 4 times a day but I don't even measure it out each time, I sort of just do a big handful, looks like about 1/2 a cup per meal to me. Does 2 cups a day total sound right?
I think after this bag I'm going to switch to something else. Puppylove where do you buy Canidae? They don't carry it at PetSmart by my house... is there a website online where you can search for local carriers of a certain dog food brand?
Thanks in advance |

| WE GAVE BOTH OF OUR DOGS, IAM PUPPY FOOD FOR LARGE BREED UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO CHANGE TO ADULT FOOD. WE FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT BECAUSE WE KNOW IT HAS ALL THE VITAMINS AND NUTRIENTS THAT THE PUPPY NEEDS. |
