My pup Sawyer is very smart and obedient and can do a variety of tricks, but I'm currently stuck on a trick and need some help. The trick is to get Sawyer to fetch my favorite drink from the fridge, currently I can get him to open the fridge and retrieve his treat but can't really advance beyond that. After I taught him to open the fridge door I tried to get him to get comfortable holding the cold can in his mouth, which he will only do for about a second before dropping it on the floor... any suggestions?

Getting him to open the fridge was a lot easier than I anticipated, just tied a dish towel around the handle placed treat inside fridge, shut the door and let him figure it out. I learned that not shutting the door all the way helped in the beginning because he had no idea how much to pull on the towel to get the door to open...

Did you try it with an empty can first? Put treats in the empty can in the fridge that he can only have when he brings the can to you. That might help him get the idea of what you are wanting. Just a thought.

See, I'd be afraid of Kam helping himself to EVERYTHING in there, not to mention the pantry and cabinets...

I just remove the towel when were done training, which I learned the hard way after my wife caught him in the fridge helping himself, of all the things he could had (ground meat, ham, bacon etc.) he chose to eat a half pound of pepper jack cheese...
