I have SOOO been there. I still go there. There are STILL times when I am watching tv and he gets quiet and I am so tempted to peek in and make sure he is still breathing....but I think we all know where that would lead...so I have had to teach myself to NEVER open the door.
Also, with the let them cry it out thing...we are on day 4 of completely ignoring him when he is A) jumping B) crying in the crate and C) totally, completely, and utterly out of control...and he really is taking to it. My back is messed up right now (24 going on 84) and I can't chase him around or let him jump on me so he is crated except for outside time, not to mention he was just neutered on Fri and isn't supposed to be running around, but he is in his crate and only cried for about 2 minutes.
This has been the hardest 4 days of my life but God strike me dead if he isn't learning that crying does him no good! |
