Me and Wendy should begin agility classes in September... I just can't wait!! Until then we practice in my backyard with home made obstacle! Here's 2 little video of Wendy doing the slalom... She just understand two days ago how to do it (well looking in front of her instead of looking at the treat in my hand!). I'm so proud of her!

Looks like you have a great start! You will be way ahead of the class I am really excited to hear of another weim doing agility. Scout is entered in her second trial September 15 and 16. I think you will find agility as addicting as we do! |

She looks great! I love seeing clips like that! Thanks for sharing
I want to do agility with Holly too but the jumping worries me with her having HOD. I'm hoping she will be fine when she is done growing. |

Wendy looks like a natural!! I think you guys are going to do really well! There were dogs in Scout's class that didn't do weave poles as well as Wendy after an entire summer of practice!
Scout competed this weekend at our local kennel club's agility trial. Unfortunately she wasn't feeling well so she wasn't interested in her treats which makes it hard to get her attention. However she did get a first place finish in Novice Standard She was 17 seconds under course time. Her last run of the weekend she jumped out of the ring and we were disqualified I guess she wanted to see if she had any fans out there. I hope she starts feeling better soon, I am taking her to the vet this morning when I get off work. She has another trial in Boise, Idaho Oct 12-14. We just need one more leg to finish her novice standard title. |

Oh wow! Thanks a lot Weime! I also think Wendy has a great potential, because we haven't begin agility classes yet and she's quite good! It's also my first experience with agility so I pretty proud of what we can do before even beginning the classes! I'm sometime having problem getting her attention, but yesterday I use cheese and you know what? She ADORE cheese!
And congratulations to you and Scout!! That's great! And good luck for the last leg you need to finish her novice standard title! I hope Scout will feel better soon! And I hope I'll do as well with Wendy as you do with Scout!
And thanks to Weimdawgs and AmyB for your comments! |

That's awesome congratulations!
Hey how do you get involved in agility classes? Where do you find them? And what age is best to start practicing for them? I want to get involved in something athletic with my Weim when he's old enough, and agility seems easier to get involved in than hunting or field trials.
I was always picked last in basketball on the playground so I want my Weim to get back at the world by being awesome at sports! Haha |

| Why don't you join some of your local Weim clubs. Isn't your breeder a member of one? |

There are no Weim clubs in Utah apparently.
We have the Intermountain Kennel Club; however, so may investigate them some. They seem to handle most all the competition in the area.
I'm not sure if Rosko, with his likely large size, will be able to be competitive in Agility so may have to go Obedience or maybe Field (even though I don't hunt really). There is a pretty strong rescue dog program out here also since we have some of the highest avalanche danger in the world (driest snow on the planet). I have some connections with those guys from when I was the marketing director at a local resort. Might try that for fun too (might even be a good job for him in the end!) |

| Don't give up on agility because of his size until you've tried it. I'v seen Great Danes competing in agility. Maybe they can't compete with the Border Collies (which seem to be in every size group) but they can still go out and have qualifying runs and have a GREAT time! Once you try it, you'll be addicted! Go for it! |

I agree! Remember you can always compete in the preferred class in the AKC trials. In preferred your dog jumps one height lower than they measure for and get an additional 5 seconds of course time. We have several dogs that run preferred in our club including 2 bernese mountain dogs and a scottish deerhound.
There are several clubs in the Salt Lake Area. The trials I have attended there were hosted by the Golden Spike Obedience Club and The Great Salt Lake Dog Training Club. I think there is also a Wasatch Agility Club. I found my club through our local AKC club. We do not have a weimaraner club in Idaho either
I think you should give it a try! |

| Good idea Anne. There are several Weim Clubs in Texas... I know of 3. My breeder is in one but she's really not that close to me, she's in Shreveport, LA. |
