Hello everyone.I have done a lot of research on all natural dog food.
Right now we feed our 2 weims Science Diet Lamb & Rice meal, we have decided to go w/ Innova Evo ( it's available in a several stores).
While i read a lot of reviews about Evo, and almost all reviews are very good
I can not find an answer if we should also give our dogs vitamins and supplements once we switch them to Evo?
And another question is , should we rotate Evo w/ regular Innova?

Thanks so much!

With Evo, I don't think supplements will be necessary but someone more knowledgeable may be able to better inform you.

As far as switching back and forth between the foods I think you'd just have to see how she does with it. Some dogs don't do well with their diet being switched and some do fine (it should always be gradual). I plan on switching from Canidae to Evo to Solid Gold if Holly does well and maybe other brands int he future. I will just keep switching foods every time the bag runs out.

What is the rationale behind rotating brands?

I'd like to see her on a diet with variety, with no long term exposure to one certain food. I practice the same with my family, everything in moderation. I'm hoping she does well with this. I'm sure she will, she's gotten into other dogs food with no problems. Laughing

we used to be able to switch at will with ours, but with lola coming down with colitis and lord knows what else, we have to be extremely careful now - im not sure we even know what we need to avoid yet... hopefully we can figure that out.
why switch so often??? why not once every 6 months, or with the season - perhaps a higher protein in the summer and the higher fat in the winter... something like that.

Like I said in my last post, I don't want her exposed to one certain group of ingredients for a long time. If you google "rotating dog food" you'll get alot of information. Very Happy

When you switch the food, is it gradual, or is it one day its the last of brand x and the next is brand y?

I buy the 40 lb bags and they last a while. When I get to where I think I may only have a weeks worth left I'll start switching gradually.

Starting with 1/4 new, 3/4 old for a few days, then 1/2 new, 1/2 old for a few days, then 3/4 new, 1/4 old until she is out of old food.

I have the same question as I have always used a large breed blend that had some form of joint supplement.

Do any EVO users use supplements?
