I'm trying to teach myself to show Cash my 6 moth old male Long-hair boy.

I am unable to go to training at the moment as he has a bit of a limp.

Can anyone explain the best way to stack ?

Thanks Very Happy

Heidi I can't really answer your questions on how to stack. But there are some really lovely people in the weimaraner yahoo group who do a lot of conformation. You may want to drift over that way and get some advice. I don't think there are too many people here who do conformation.

Hope the little guy feels better soon!!!

Making the dogs hold a pose, like when the judges look at the dogs in a dog show. Smile

busta—that's not half bad! you need to have his tail up tho!

also, may i just add that i am soooo jealous that you have a long-hair! they're so gorgeous! i think that when schroeder is much, much older, i'm going to look into getting one!

You're doing a great job! I think it's best to learn from someone, it's too hard to learn by reading.
Also there tend to be some minor differences I have noticed the way people stack their dogs in different countries.

Cash is absolutely beautiful.....Love that long hair. Your stack looks pretty good to me...tail up is all.

Sadly, here in the U.S. the long hair is considered a fault as is the blue coat color.

In the UK the LH is accepted and is shown alongside the SH (in the same classes).

There is a big difference in the way they are stacked in different countries though. In the US their back legs seem to be stretched out far further than in the UK. In the UK we also hold them under their chin and gently support the tail, standing behind the dog. In the US the stack seems to be more "natural" and not assisted by a person holding the dog in any way.

I am, and always have been, very dissapointed with the US standard for our weims. While I am a member of the Weimaraner Club of America, it is pretty obvious that our comformation standard is the result of many narrow minded people who all owned and breeded only silver/gray SH weims.

IMHO, blues and LH are every bit as much weim as our silver-grays and should be allowed to prove that, along with dedicated owners.

Thanks for letting me vent a little Laughing Laughing Laughing

LOL Lynn, don't get me started HA!!

Some people in the US like to make that topline extremely sloping rather than "slightly sloping" as the standard says which is why they do that to the rear legs.

That's funny about your comment Josie because I feel that Europeans stack their dogs in a more natural stance than in the US!

LOL! For anyone interested, there are lots of Weims stacked UK-style on the WA website here:

http://www.weimaraner-association.org.uk/showalbum/

PS I just realised, it's a terrible photo, but the dog in the middle here is Slate's mum: http://www.weimaraner-association.org.uk/showalbum/ch03.html

And the one on the left here is her dad: http://www.weimaraner-association.org.uk/showalbum/ch02.html

Gosh, I had no idea there were all these photos of them on this site!!!
