We are fostering a 19-mo old girl who is, well, rather rambunctious. Before the HW treatment, she was going on daily hourlong offleash rigorous hikes, a half-hour in the offleash park, a few walks around the block, and several stints with the Kong ball. We were exhausted, and she still wanted more.
She is HW+, so last week I took her for the 2-day treatment. She felt bad for about two hours after each trip and then was ready to go, wanting to walk and play. That's a no-no, but try telling her that. They gave us some sedatives for her, which only last for a few hours and which she easily overcomes with a little bit of hyperactivity.
I know she has to stay quiet for 4-6 weeks and then still no rigorous activity for another 2-4. I, however, am running out of ideas to entertain her, and she is going stir-crazy. I know she is bored because she keeps running through the vertical blinds and making a racket. Since we work at home and she has the run of the house, crating her while we are there only results in whining, thrashing, and banging around. That seems like more activity than she's supposed to have. She'll settle on her bed, but only if I sit in the chair next to it and don't move. Any time I get up, she gets up.
What did you all do when you have to keep your Weim quiet after the HW treatment? Is there a way to tire them out without activity? Help! |

| Obedience train her, that will keep her mind busy and that will take some edge off of her. |

I agree with Anne. The little things that keep her mind busy. I was lucky when Scooter went through his treatment because he was 3 yrs old and had another dog to sleep all day with.
You may try to play hide and seek with some treats/toys. Good luck! And keep us posted on how she does! |

| First off we want to say welcome from East Texas and thanks for opening you home and heart up for a very special breed of dog. I would start on some training and maybe take some time to just sit and hold her. |
