| As posted before, Bailey has allergies pretty badly. I am not sure to what, gonna get a blood text next season. Right now he has splotchy hair loss to his hind legs and sides....never really saw any welts...the skin got flaky and the hair fell out. I am giving him flax oil, 3V Derm caps and probiotics. Trying to steer away from any steroid for a while. My biggest conern right now is his feet. The inside of the paws and the flat area above the pads on the back of his legs are red and raw!! He licks them alot and hates for me to touch them. I think it could be yeast, but I am not sure. Does anyone else have this problem? I would like to know if any of yall have a remedy that works...home stuff. I need suggestions please. |

I would suggest Benadryl to help with the licking and then after you bath him with the medicated shampoo, you can rinse him with all natural apple cider vinegar. It may help to also wipe his feet after he comes in each time. Also, and this really has helped our girl Sade believe it or not but she gets a tbs of local honey each day. It works for people and seems to work for our girl. Hope some of this helps.

I am breaking down and taking him in to the vet today... The bills are breaking me. I know he has yeast, and he is a little bumpy today. May have to do a round of Temoral p. I am leaving with my Dad while my Mom and I go to Disney for a week, he always hives up when I am gone. On top of that, he has never stayed alone with my Dad. Trying to help the problem before it starts. |

| You need to get a skin scraping done at your vet's office. He could have Demodectic mange. |

He has had skin scrapings for the same problem and was negative. I took him today, I got the blood allergy test done and more temoral p. Gotta wait like 2 weeks for results. |

Cooper's had the yeast infection last year in the toes, antibiotics, cortisone, antifungal cream -the whole 9 yards. It's a pain I know.
This year we did Benedryl, foot washing & cleaning with Nizoral & at night wrapped them with Neosporin as they were getting raw from the licking. We caught it sooner, but eventually we had to go with Vanectyl P. Gave him tons of omega 3's too which I believe helped. Not nearly as severe this time.
I'm going to try the local honey...nothing to lose, right? Someone also recently mentioned carrot allergies, so I'm also going to look for a grain free, rice free, carrot free, yeast free dog treat. (Already feed him raw, but raw food is not so easy to carry in your pocket on a walk. Especially at the dog park ) |

Just fyi our late Pit/Collie mix had some skin allergies and we were giving him flax oil and it was making it worse, we changed to salmon oil and it made it better. |

| Gold Bond powder or baby powder on those feet. You've got to keep them clean and dry. Try to keep him out of wet grass or water for a while till they heal (hard- I know) |

| I totally understand your frustration. We went through all of this with our girl Sade. She is now on the allergy injections and I ended up having her thyroid tested and sure enough, she had a low thyroid too. If you do end up getting the thyroid test, please, please, ask your vet to do a FULL panel, otherwise it's just not accurate. I even sent my girls results to Dr. Jean Doggs via e-mail in Cali for a second opinion. She is an expert on thyroids in dogs and was very helpful to me. If possible, try and keep Bailey inside as much as possible. I know that's hard but that's what we had to do with Sade this summer here in Dallas. She still have to be put on Antibiotics and temeral-p too. There is also a medication you can ask your vet about call Atopica. Its' supposed to really help with allergies in dogs. Not sure if you have a dog dermatologists around you anywhere. That's where we ended up having to go to for the allergy shots. Good luck to you, I know you just want the best for Bailey. Keep us posted. |
