It's been just over 8 months since I rescued Scooter. Well, I say rescue. For him it was a rescue. Many of you know his story. He was severely neglected when I got him. Basically the family I got him from left him outside in the yard and never did anything with him, ever. He was 3 1/2 yrs old and had never been to the vet, had shots, been inside a house, been leash trained or walked, or any of the simple things you need to do for a dog. Basically they had a huge free feed machine and dumped a bag of food in it and left him.
So when I got him in February things were a bit difficult for him and me. He's had a lot of issues to go through. His main health issue was the heartworm, but after treatment he is doing amazingly!
My main objective was to build his confidence. When I first got him he wouldn't even stand in front of you because he was scared. After working very hard he finally began to trust me and would let me touch him and play with him. Then whenever I had family come over he would revert to his old ways.
Well, since I have moved into my house he has become a totally different dog. And it's for the best! He is doing absolutely amazing! He has had so much people interaction and is standing in front of everyone accepting the pats/pets and is playing with everyone here. He's happy to see the neighbors and even today I left my sister with the dogs while they were eating and he did just fine.

I am so happy for my Scooter boy. He is a 100% different dog. It's just so nice to see him be happy and enjoy his life. I am so glad that he's in my life. I just can't explain how far he has come and how much I and Sadie love him. He is truly a special boy!

Here are some pictures of him enjoying our new place.

Sitting like a good pup.

Looking for pine cones.

And he eats the pine cone.

Here's Sadie eating her pecans. She likes to crack open the shell and eat the nut. Rolling Eyes

I just love my doggy family.

Such a handsome boy. I love his wrinkly, rubbery neck folds. Great photo. You have done such a nice job with him! I really admire you for opening your home and heart to him. -Andrea

Actually I think Sadie has done all the work. Laughing She keeps him in check and gets him to explore everything with her. Including the kitchen! Wink But, really I think without her to help him he wouldn't be so confident now.

That is so awesome! Glad to hear that Scooter has improved tremendously! I feel so fortunate to have Goose... as he has come a long way since we got him and its been almost 1 1/2 yrs. Smile After finding out that we were his 4th owners within 3 yrs and more of his history last month, I felt even more obligated to be even nicer to him and love him MORE than what I already was, lol.
