For about the last week Jag has had alot of eye gookies. Does anyone have any idea why? Is it diet related?

It could be. I know our pollen and mold counts are up. A lot of my friend are having allergy issues. It could be that too. I don't really worry about it.

It could be just lots of dust/pollen as Pam said.

How old is Jag?

Both Augie and Udo tend to have them when there is a lot of pollen in the air (hemlock trees surround our property) or the weather is particularly warm and dry (dusty). One would not look at the Pacific Northwest and say dry but it is the case albiet brief in the summer.

I was going to post the exact same question!

Yoko has had eye goo all of a sudden in the mornings for the past week. After the morning it doesn't come back til the next day.

Maybe it is allergies - there is so much of that ragweed, I think (the yellow stuff flowery plant?) around our neighbourhood lately.

You can try just flushing the eyes out with some over the counter eye wash. That way if there is any pollen or dust it will be washed out. I do this after hunting because the dogs get small particles of weeds in their eyes.

Logan gets this on and off too, the vet just said it was allergies. As long as it isn't some horribly disgusting color or extremely excessive I wouldn't worry. The vet gave me eye drops that seem to help.

Does he get any yogurt? Schatze was having this same thing after a food change...

I started giving her a tablespoon of yogurt once daily and hardly any eye boogies at all now...

Ruby has these bad ALL the time regardless of time of year - everday I have to wipe eye crusties. Yesterday morning they were so bad one of her eyes was glued shut. Poor thing.
We've changed her dog food around 4 times and it hasn't made any difference, we've tried flushing the eyes, eye ointment, yoghurt and they still are just as bad. I think I'm going to take her to the vet about them soon because I'm just over it.. Maybe she has something wrong with her tear ducts.

My boy Blitzen had these every morning - although not as bad as some of you have described. I wiped them out every morning.

Pollen and even dust are contributors to this. The tears grab the impurities in the air and the crusties are the result. Check your air filter on your furnace to see if it's doing its job.

Of course, eye inflammation is another issue altogether.

Unfortunately, I'm noticing that one of Aces eyes is excreting a greenish colored eye goober....but not an overly excessive amount, and his eye isn't swollen/crusty or anything.
Usually, his eye goobers are white, this one definitely has some color. (sorry, I know that's kinda gross...)
Probably should think about checking with the vet?
The color sort of concerns me..... Puplexed
