I am so glad that I found this site. It is wonderful to see that there are other people who are addicted to their weimaraners besides me. : ) I have a puppy who is almost 10 months old. She was diagnosed with HOD when she was 6 months old and last Monday had a mast cell tumor (grade 2) removed. Does anyone know a good cancer food that may also be good for a dog with HOD? If anyone has advice about mast cell tumors I would appreciate it. I have owned weims for over 25 years and have never dealt with either of these problems. I was going to have a consult with an oncologist from Auburn but my vet asked me to wait until he spoke with the pathologist. I have been waiting for the return call all week and the vet states the pathologist just hasn't called back. I am considering just taking her-the wait is very frustrating.

No GRAINS is supposedly excellent for starving cancer cells. Can you feed RAW or just proteins?

I have been doing a lot of research and it seems like a combination of raw and grain free kibble is best. I am scheduling an appt at Auburn next week but haven't been given any other advise from my vet except to keep her on 4 benadryl and 1 zantac a day. I know the high protein may not be good for the HOD but I don't really know.

PM me. One of my dog's grandmothers had a mast cell tumor when she was about 3 years old. She's now 11 years old and looks as good as she ever did! I can give you her owner's contact info if you'd like.

My friend had a lab who had a grade 2 mast cell tumor removed when he was 6 months old. She feeds canidae. He's 3 now and hasn't had a problem since.

Your welcome. Its very cool. Misty's holistic vet uses alot. He would rather use that than surgically remove the cancer. He injected my horse's tumor with it and so far 4 months have gone by and no recurrence of the squamous cell carcinoma on her third eyelid. |

At our store we are all about the grain free and/or raw diet for these types of issues and have many custoemrs that have done well on them. I know onme woman outside of my store with a dog that is on strict raw and does great after 5 years of dealing with it.
