|
|
I'm going to make a pup cake for Cloud for his 1st birthday. I was wondering if anyone had tips? What "frosting" was best to work with and how it went?
I figured if I ever tried to actually bake a cake...I should set my goal for someone who would actually eat it. . Any help is much appreciated. |

I would just watch the amount of sugar involved. I have made carrot cakes for my dogs and horses with less sugar than called for and no raisins. Cream cheese or a yogurt based icing works well.
This year, I went for a pupcakes (meat loaf) instead with mashed potato icing. My hubby had the same thing for dinner but I'm a veggie.

Oh they look awesome, peppernaei! I would eat them too!
The recipe I found online doesn't appear to have too much sugar. Honey is involved and I think it is 1/3 cup, natural pb, flour, egg, baking soda, and icing of some sort. Oh and carrots...1 cup shredded. I doesn't sound too bad .
I may try the meatloaf cake one day...sounds fun to make and eat:D. I would have to make it Cloud friendly...oh...poo if breads involved I don't think i can--he's allergic to yeast. |

Well, my pupcake turned out pretty good. I, naturally, missed an ingredient but despite that it worked out well. Both the Birthdaypup and Part liked it!
Cloud liked it more than I expected and when we took it away from him, Part had to sit on him cause the boy started to growl. After, Cloud submitted, he would not stop searching for his birthday cake.
Hehe, it was cute to see him sitting and watching intently. I was kind of worried that he was going to burn his ear, yes I did buy him a candle for his first bday--grant it I forgot I bought it and was surprised when it came out of the bag. Darn you brain, and your thinking and not remembering doing something. Sigh. Part blew it out before Cloud burned his ear (as Cloud had learned that lesson about fire, thankfully.)
I wouldn't dare let him eat all of it in one sitting just in case something bothered him. I guess this was the first time he has ever had a carrot. I gave him a stick and he was excited at first, looked as if he was going to bury it--then the taste got him. The...uh...not what i expected...face. He loved it afterward though.
Must make meatloaf cupcakes! Part sounded interested in it--must review recipe and see if I can make it for Cloud too. |

Yup, I made the Peanut butter cake that I found on a couple of sites. It had carrots in it too. It had honey in it too. I used cream cheese, 1/3 low fat, as the icing--which really brought out the flavors really well.
I sadly, dropped it so I couldn't make it pretty. Stupid...bah...burned myself and it slipped.
Part was nice and helped me scoop it together and make it somewhat pretty. I only had just enough for us to sample that didn't wind up on the floor. |

Meatloaf is easy. People have a million ways to make it - it depends on what flavours you like. Think of a hamburger in a loaf pan or cupcake tin in my case. The ones in the photos had:
Lean ground beef
egg
carrots (sauteed)
tomato paste (many use ketchup)
parsley
salt and pepper
The human additions were sauteed onions and chipotle pepper.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes for a loaf pan or 20-30 minutes for cupcake tins. |
