|
|
We let Loki out every night and then off to bed. When we get up about 4 or 5 hours later to let him out he hears us getting up and starts to cry. We wait for him to settle down and go to let him out. When we get to the crate he has already gone in his bed. The same thing happens in the morning when we get up too. It seems like he only stops "screaming" after he goes to the bathroom in his bed. Other than sleeping with our clothes on to get to him before he knows what is going on I don't know what to do.
We can't go to the crate until he stops yelling for us or we will be letting him know that it works and he will only try harder the next time. Is there anything we can do? |

I think you may be expecting him to wait too long. If he is starting to cry the second he hears you, he already has to go. At that point you should probably just take him out to go and not wait for him to be quiet.
I have slept in stretch shorts and a t-shirt since the day we brought Scout home....that was over 5 years (and three dogs) ago. You never know how quick you might have to let someone out |

He is going on 15 weeks.
Right now he goes out at 11:00-11:30 and then again about 3:00 and then when I get up around 6:00. Any other time in the day he is in the crate he is fine. When Brandy gets home around 3:00 there are no messes after being in there from 7:00 in the morning. It only happens in the morning when we get up. It's almost like when he wakes up he wants out and starts barking and yelling so hard it makes him pee. |

| The general rule is that they can hold it for one hour for every month they are old. Right now he is learning to whine to alert you that he needs to go potty, so you need to make sure he gets out to do that. If he is going in the crate before he quiets down, he is getting mixed messages (ie: did I get out because I peed or because I was quiet?) |
