Anyone who is from the southeast will tell you that we have had an AWFUL time with fleas this year.
I can't seem to keep them off of bailey. We have used every kind of flea medication around. The expensive stuff didn't work, the cheap stuff didn't either.
So naturally, now she has chewed her poor backside to pieces. The hair is falling out and the skin is irritated.
Any suggestions on some relief for my weimy.

Addams flea shampoo seems to work best for Cloud, seeing as though the Frontline has all but stopped working.
I feel your pain. We are having that problem along with the mosquitoes. |

We have Wrnehc on Sentinal and he goes everywhere with us as well as the dog park and his yard and more. Never any flea issues but for control of fleas from our neighbors 3 unkept dogs as well as other bugs we treat the yard constantly with a few different items ( not always the most eco friendly but the c-4 was about to come out for the misquitos this year) and we have a bug zapper now and also using diluted dish soap is an eco friendly and we attach the sprayer to the hose and spray daily...this is best for flys but seems to really work for many things and then also cedar mulch or chips spread in the yard ( and we have discovered it keeps him from peeing where we don't want him too=)
Also vaccuming a lot in the house too helps. |

| There is also stuff you can put in a lawn spreader and apply to where the dog goes. My mom had the same problem with her neighbors outside dogs, her yard was infested. It took a couple treatments, and she had to bomb her house a few times, but they are finally all gone. |

I have always had the yard professionally done and also give garlic to mine. As of yet (6 years) we have never had a flea or tick. I really believe in the garlic it does wonders.
As for the itching and stuff I would ask the vet for atarax until it clears up. Its a wonderful drug that stops the itch immed. Generally safe too. It gives the skin time to heal. |

Remember to make sure there's no secondary infection from the itching.
We've never had a flea and I only use frontline or advantix maybe twice a year in the summer. Sometimes I don't even do that, but ticks have been bad here for the last year or two. I've heard others say that they do the yard treatments and it apparently works. |

| I use revolution and have never seen a flea on the cat or dog...but they have both had tapeworms, caused by eating fleas. So, i guess they are there somewhere. Here in south Lousiana I guess its a no win situation. |

| Have you guys heard of comfortis, the flea pill? We live in Florida, and the flea are uncontrollable. We get the yard sprayed every 3 months or so, and it rains so much here it hardly works at all. BUT, this comfortis pill is like a month long capstar pill. You give it to them and when the fleas bite them they die. She was covered with fleas using frontline, but since comfortis, she's clean. Research it, they said something about if your dog is prone to seizures, its not good for them. Do your research. it works for us. |

| comfortis worked for us in Mississippi... Lots of flees around here this year... We didn't have luck with frontline.. With the comfortis you give it every month by mouth.... If you give it on time it works.. |

A 2nd for Comfortis. It's new to the market and a chewable flea tablet. Works for a month, fleas should be gone in 24 hours.
Make sure you treat your house and your yard as well. |
