I need some help. Two weeks ago after eating her breakfast, Sophie got sick to her stomack all over our floor. We didn't think anything of it as it seemed to be a once and done thing. Well, she stopped eating her food and would only eat it if we put chicken broth and rice in it. During the first week she got sick 4 times. She became very lethargic and just wanted to lay around and not do anything.
We went to the vet a week after she first got sick and had her examined externally. The vet thought it was a virus and gave her a shot for upset stomach and gave two pills for her that we had to give to her twice a day. We have been giving her the pill for a week now. She still wasn't eating right, so we gave her a different, higher quality brand of food, which she loved for two days. Now, she's back to getting sick on her stomack and being lethargic.
I just don't get it and I'm terribly worried. We called the vet and are waiting for a call back, but have any of you ever heard of this happening or experienced this yourself with your pups? |

Is your dog vomiting or regurgitating?
Regurgitation is the bringing up of food that has not get reached the stomach, and could be a sign of megaesophagus, a widening of the esophagus. Food will get caught in the esophagus until it is either regurgitated or makes it's way down to the stomach. Also some dogs may cough, as food can sometimes make it down into their lungs. This disorder can be managed by medication and diet.
Just an idea....Hope your baby is feeling better soon! |

| It's definately throw up, not a simple regurgitation. You can hear her stomach making those sick sounding girggles. I just hope it's not life threatening. The vet hasn't called back yet and she was supposed to call us this morning and now it's afternoon and she has left the office for the rest of the day. |

hooch got real sick as a pup.. tons of vomiting.. turns out he ate a prickly ball, and until his body digested it, he was on home cooked meals until it cleared.. probably took almost a month to get back to normal. he was constantly vomiting.. usually at night.. but still eating his food okay.
i think it is a good thing to have your vet aware.. keep a close eye, and make sure she stays hydrated. |

dog food recall? I called the customer service and the food came from a dog food plant in PA. Just a thought.
