|

Well we have had Pandora for about a week and she has this cough. She kind of gags and coughs but nothing comes up usually (sometimes mucas). Was wondering if this could possibly be kennel cough. Since we did just adopt her from an animal shelter. Or could it be possible that she has something stuck in her throat. Or maybe the food we have her on is making her throat itchy. She's been on Tractor Supply Brand retrivier dog food. Just wondering if anyone has any input.
Thanks,
Jerrod, Amanda, and crew |

I'm not too sure.. it might be worthshile take a trip to the vet just to get her checked over anyway.
Sometimes if Ruby goes without a meal for more than 12 hours she will start coughing/heaving and bring up a clear mucous liquid. The vet tells me that is from her feeling hungry. We try and feed her first thing in the morning and later at night with a snack when she goes to bed. We haven't had that for ages now. |

| With kennel cough, the dog will have a very distinct wheezing sound that almost has a whistle to it. Any type of movement usually triggers a coughing/hacking attack. Even just trotting around can trigger it. When a dog has kennel cough they generally don't cough anything up, but continuously hack and sometimes dry heave from all the coughing. There are medicines that work on kennel cough, but generally the treatment lasts about 2 weeks. I say defiantly get her checked out for it, and anything else it might be. If you have any other dog in the home be very careful because kennel cough is extremely contagious. Good luck with her and hoping for a speedy recovery! |
