hello we are new weim humans and OMG im crying, dieing etc
here is the story
we were talking to a lady about possible adopting this dog one day... the same day 1030 pm she shows up at our house, to drop him off. he looked sooooo pitiful. he wouldnt walk made them carry him etc. he was allllll bones you could see his butt bones and ribs face bones etc. he ran to the bathroom hid in the tub, we left him there. the lady reversed my phone number. so we couldnt let her take him home after seeing him. i called my sister who is in her last year of school to be vet and she told me to feed him in small amounts until he learned he would have food as he was aggressive. teach him to know there is more. so now we have him happy.. he knows there is more food, he loves my kids and our other dog whom i have had for 4 yrs. HOWEVER...... he will not quit peeing in my house!@!!! you take him out he comes in and pees you go to bed after walking him he poos. omg then if you take him out after he does in the house, he looks at you like daah been there done it got the jacket!!! so i wonder what can i do.he is going in to be fixed on the 10th and the people who bobed his tail did it wrong so it has to be fixed he is only 6 mo and i hear that if he isnt trained by now he wont be. please if youcan give me advise we humans here need it.

If its not a medical problem, then I would try the crate.

Do the crate training slowly, make it a safe, fun, happy place to be. It won't be that overnight but with time and patience, our Gunther now loves his crate.

Is his tail broken or something?

well the story from the lady if u will, is she went to do a rescue found him and a female and they were very bad off, obvious when i looked at him however she was keeping the female because..... ready.... she was pregnant gee how convient. anyhow his tail appeared to have been removed by rubberband. i say this because the area at the tip of the tail not only has no regrowth of hair but is extremely crooked and you can see a circular area almost a pencil width above the nub. he is extremely sensitive in the area and if he and my other dog are playing and the other dog who we call butthead for funny reason, touches the area he cries. yelps.
i spoke to the animal control and explained all this to them she is being investigated and he will have to have the tip removed as they agree with my assumption. he still hides frequently and like just now.... between my last post to now we walked and walked and walked he snifed, looked around looked up trees and everything else but wouldnt go to the bathroom. we came inside, i made a quick cup of tea he pooped and peed.

ive tried the treats and praise he looks at me like i am stupid lol. so do the neighbors so why should he be different right lolololol

butthead is an english bulldog mix who we had fixed a few yrs ago (responsible pet owner here proud to say) his name was harley. after surgery we waited for a week to really do things with him as his surgery was complicated. so anyhow when i called him he looked like whatever!!!!\
so one day i said ya know youre just a butthead. he jumped up wagging his tail and well the rest is history.
that is how he got his name

mocca reminded me of a twig when we saw him. he is slowly gaining weight as that is how he needs to do it, and eats well. chicken and rice (vet) and them he has his regular pedagree food. he is picky he wants everything else and when he eats he bends his front legs and just swallows. no chewing or anything. i read here that some people hand feed them which i will try tomorrow.

Feeding him a good quality kibble along with satin balls (google it) and perhaps some rice and boiled chicken. I have a rescue who was extrememly emaciated and it's taken almost a year to get him to his normal weight. He also marked all over my house, even after he was neutered. However, I have used calimg spray around the house when I can tell he is getting stress. He marks out of anxiety. Since we have moved to a larger house with a larger fenced in yard he has only marked once. I know moving isn't something you can do however he is so young you should have a lot of hope with him. He'll need lots of gentle loving. No sudden approaches. Creep up next to him on your belly, bet him from the ground up so your hand isn't coming down on him (in case he was beaten). Roll over on your back next to him and speak to him softly while you rub his belly. Normally with weims I avoid being so submissive with them as so many of them are serious alphas but if you can show him he can trust you by being vulnerable to him, it can help. I did this a lot with my Bo in the beginning. I slowly gained more of his trust each day. He still is skittish at times but he trusts me more than anyone else in the house and will snuggle on the couch next to me all day if I let him. Stick with it and be consistent. Make sure he gets plenty of one on one time without Butthead (love the story) around. THis will help him feel like an equal in the house, knowing he gets his time, too. Hang in there! It gets better! I work with cases such as yours all the time between working with Heartland, and clients in the past. It can be so discouraging at times but everytime you see progress just praise it and remember to take it one day at a time. Smile

Sounds to me like he needs some toys or some nylabones. maybe he just wants your attention. i say crate him. my sister rescued a pit bull who was 1 and a half and not potty trained. she said he has a small bladder (vet checked). she crates them when they are gone but he can't hold it for more then 4 hours. i was told that the number of months they are is the number of hours they can hold it. 6 months = 6 hours. also, if you don't get ALL the pee smell up, even the slightest bit can make him want to pee in the same spot or in the house thinking it's okay. when he does potty outside, give him a treat and make a big deal out of it. i highly doubt he would poop in his crate, my dogs have done it once each, but they were sick and couldn't help it...other then that, i've never had a problem.\

When he picks up something he is not allowed to have (shoe) right away replace it with something he is allowed to chew on...toy etc...good luck...

As far as peeing in the house ..if you catch him in the act immediately take him outside and praise like crazy if he goes potty outside..you may have to keep him in one room (using baby gates) so you can keep an eye on him at all times to get the potty training under control....I am glad you are keeping your sense of humor through this rough time...hang in there...

wow it sounds like you have a real challenge at your hands.

i am new to weim ownership, so i don't really have advice to share. I just wanted to say that you're doing such a great job by taking care of that dog - you seem to have patience and a will to train him properly.

just keep your great sense of humour handy and keep working at it. i bet you you'll have that dog feeling happy and healthy in no time!

We've had our weim, Gustav (or Goose, Goosie, or Monkey or whatever else we call him) for a little over a year now (we're his 3rd owners & last!). He had some major issues when we first got him (we suspect he was abused by his original owner, a hunter). He also had issues with trust, loud voices, won't go outside by himself, barking, etc. He still has issues with going outside by himself (but has improved tremendously) and he won't play longer than 5-10 minutes with you (which I wonder has to do with missing his former playmates (the 2nd owner had two other dogs, a great dane & a jack russell terrier) and my other dog, a black lab mix was put to sleep a few months after getting Goose).
Unfortunately, we just moved to Phoenix in June so having a rock backyard sucks... On a lighter note, our dog LOVES to cuddle and it seems like its all that he wants to do. We had a hard time breaking him from the bed and sofa when we first got him (the 2nd owner allowed him to do that). After moving to Phoenix, we started to allow him on the bed-- which lasted about a month because neither my boyfriend or I could get good sleep. Now he's allowed to get on the bed after my boyfriend gets up in the morning and he cuddles with me until I get up.
Hang in there. Positive feedback/rewarding towards Mocca at the right time will help immensely! Goodluck! Very Happy

Oh yeah, and as mentioned above, get Nylabone brands. They will become your new best friend for chew toys. Goose still manages to chew through some of their toys but at least they last longer than the other stuff (maybe 5-10 minutes).

Just wanted to say good luck and i think you are doing a great job!!! it might seem some days that you are getting no further forward but i'm sure its sinking in for him!!!

what i did with my 2 is 20minutes after they ate i would take them outside till they did their "buisness" it was hard and tedious at first but it worked.

***** good luck ******

First I am so glad that you kept the dog, since she just showed up so late at night and dropped him off she had no business with him to start with!!!my advice would be to go slow and let him learn to trust you.
