So, I have been looking for a pet door that will work for my dogs if I do move into the new home. I need it to be a "wall entry" type of door, so not one that you put on an actual door. Here is the one I am thinking might do. Has anyone used this or know anyone who has?

I'm mainly concerned about drafts or rain coming through. I think this one looks pretty solid because it does have 2 flaps that are magnetic, and also it has a solid door that can slide on either side to close off the entry. |

| I was checking that out at petsmart just the other day. They have them all on display. It has a magnetic strip that holds it shut. The magnet did seem pretty strong and seems like it would hold up with winds and such but I'm not sure if the rain could get in or not. Could maybe put a little doggy awning or something if it was a problem. |

We have three of these doors, and haven't had any problems with them. It seals well enough that even when its 20 degrees outside you can't feel a draft. And with three dogs they get plenty of use!

Awesome! I'm glad to know that it has worked for you Meredith. All the reviews I had read seemed to say that it worked well for keeping out drafts. That is my main concern because it gets so cold and gusty here in the winter. Was is very hard to install for you?
ICARUS, the awning idea is great. I didn't even think of that. I can see it now, just the perfect little doggie door on the side of the house. I bet the neighbors will think I'm crazy! |
