| i HAVE BEEN THINKING OF BUYING LAND AND MAKING A DOG PARK. THERE IS PLENTY OF NEED FOR ONE WHERE I LIVE.dOES ANYONE HAVE IDEAS ON WHAT SHOULD ALL BE IN ONE,AND THE AMOUNT OF LAND,FENCE OR NO FENCE,GRAVEL TRAILS , JUST BASICS TO START,.i HAVE NEVER BEEN IN ONE.I'M FROM SMALLER TOWN OF 30000 AND THERE IS ONLY ONE PARK HERE TO WALK IN (NOT DOG PARK)AND IT IS GETTING SMALLER EVERY DAY DUE TO HOUSING DEVELOPEMENTS.THERE ARE PLENTY OF ACREAGES JUST OUTSIDE OF TOWN FOR ONE. |

| Two sides, one for big dogs and one for little dogs. A water fountain for people and dogs. Trees, grass, trash cans, poopie bags and fences. |

If your that serious I would advise you to go to one and find your dislikes and likes. The one near my house is a fenced area (6ft chain link) about the size of 3 football fields. with TWO gates to get into. To prevent dogs from escaping. When a new dog comes all the other dogs gather by the gate.
And of coarse all the things mentioned above that dogs will need. Especially poop bags, which the people that go to the park near me dont know how to use |

Here's the website for a dog park that I go to regularly. Take a look at the rules that have been established...they vary from dog park to dog park, but they are definitely important.

There are some pictures of the dog park too on the website.
Good luck! |

I would check with your local govt to see what kind of restrictions they have. I'm not sure how it works in Canada but here you would have to have permits and things approved by the commissioners. Also I would check with other parks and see what rules would apply and forms for people to sign to release you from liability and to make sure they have all their shots.
That is great that you are thinking about that. I would love to do it but land is so expensive here I could never afford it. |

We belong to a private dog bark here in Ohio. It is REALLY nice. It is on a persons private property. It is about 10 acres all fenced in. Has trees for shade, a huge pond, she has 4 baby pools set up. The best part of the park is it is NON-PROFIT. She allows a different non-profit rescue group to set up each week they are open. She is only open the first three Saturdays of each month from 10-4, which makes it more special to go. All the money we pay to enter each day is then donated to the group who is "hosting" the event that day. She has volunteers with pink leashes and bright green vest that walk around to make sure all dogs are kept safe. She has an agility area as well. They have a small building off to the side where they sell hamburgers, hot dogs, baked goods all of which the money also goes to the rescue that day. The rescue then sets up under two tents and they have a raffle table and items for sale and do nail clippings, etc. Then when you leave the park she has about 8 bath tubs set up and shampoo and you can pay $5 to wash your dog before you leave as well (all of the money from that also goes to the rescue group). The rescue group in a day can make anywhere from 4-6,000 which is great for some of us smaller groups out there.
I have pictures of Bark Park under Starr's my space page:

Here is the link to the one I go to on occasion.

Since the overhead shot was taken they have planted grass and a few trees. I hear they plan on putting in some benches when the moneys there but for now there's big rocks under the trees to sit on. The people that don't want to risk sitting on a rock that has potential to get wizzed on bring bag chairs. |
