Hello, I am new to this but I thought maybe someone out there could help. I have 11 month old female, Lucylou. a couple days ago a strange lump appeared on her side at the end of her ribcage. It doesn't bother her. She doesn't itch, the skin and coat are healthy looking. She isn't losing hair, she eats and drinks like normal. Her activity and overall bouncyness is the same. the lump is about 2 inches in diameter and 1/4 to 1/2 high. It is a soft squishy feeling thing and it will move from side to side alittle bit. When I mess with it she could care less. I plan on going to the vet tomorrow but any thoughts would be great. Thanks

A calcium deposit maybe?
A trip to the vet just to be sure it's harmless is a good idea.....

My weims have always developed lumps of that sort at some time in their lives. Usually older rather than younger. I believe it is called a lipoma which is a fatty lump and they are generally benign. I had a couple of the larger ones on Heidi and Schatzie removed and biopsied. Benign but I worried anyway. I would suggest having your vet look at them at you next visit or if they seem go be getting larger.

What did you find out about the lump?? Jake has had lumps that fill with fluid from trauma..usually a pinch bite or nip from one of the other dogs. If they aspirate it and it is just fluid, no infection, you can put some warm compresses on it to help it dissapate.

Could it be a mast cell tumor?

Here is a post she made on August 27th after a vet visit:
"I have leasrned from experience not to panic. Lucy had a huge lump on her side (see lumps and bumps) I thought or rather worried the worst. Turned out it was from some sort of trauma and it had just filled up with a bloody liquid that the vet drained. Chances are your bump is the same, although Lucy's was way bigger. Defininatly go to the vet."

Is this thread: "Please help!!! Does anyone know what this is?"
