Chris, I'm not disagreeing with you and by all means I can understand your point. Perhaps you're right, it could have been worded better but it's the overall gist I agree with...

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I cannot devote the time right now to answer your posts in full (I'm getting up at 3:30 to go dog training) but I really really doubt you are the only one that feels the way you do, probably nobody else has spoken up is all.

I do want to just say one thing for now. I think the tone of the article was meant to sound angry. I agree, it was harsh. If that opens up some adult respectful "argument" then that is a good thing. But I do understand his anger. Maybe because I am in Los Angeles where it's pretty "shameful" to breed dogs. In fact, if you go to the dog park and mention breeding, you won't believe the looks. It's all the "rage" to have rescue dogs -- which I think is GREAT. But I live in PeTA-land, and I really do understand how public perception here against dog breeding has taken a stanglehold on the public, and you know what they say... when something happens in California, the rest of the country better watch out. I also am given "looks" for even having unaltered dogs.

The extremists are probably 5% sure I'll go with that number, but those extremists who are killing people over animals are not as scary to me as those that buy into the propaganda and are MOSTLY in agreement without understanding the extremists ultimate goal. I think those people are like 90% of the population. And that is why it's so scary to me.

Anyway, getting back to my main point for now. I think his tone was meant to be cockily (is that a word?) proud. I think it was written with the intent as a "call to arms" type of thing, since being passive is probably the biggest fault many have when it comes to animal rights issues. Just look at the reaction (almost none) to some of the posts in the Legislation section of this forum. Maybe people think these crazy laws won't ever go into effect or that it doesn't concern them. But as we are all purebred dog owners, I think we should all be mightily concerned with what is happening. If we are all dog crazy enough to spend time on a forum chatting all day about our dogs, I think we need to care about the future of the breed and understand that some people really want to eliminate OUR dogs.

the text as a whole is attacking, cocky, stereotypical, and divisive.
im not a fan of the animal rights extremists, but what is that, 5% of the population?
does it really do you any good to take such a childish and angry stance?
isnt it possible to stand up for what you believe in with facts and figures, rather than name calling and angry 'us versus them' sentiment.
i get the point, and im ok with some of it, but the way it is presented makes me question the level of education and the overall cognitive ability of the person that wrote it.

am i alone on this???

The people / organizations he is talking about rely on guerilla propaganda, slander, intimidation and lies to try and systematically strip us of our RIGHTS as pet-owning citizens.

Not something that's likely to invoke in me, or anyone else, the desire to fight psychos with eloquence.

Kinda like trying to change Hitler's agenda by inviting him to a tea party and playing nicey-nicey, no?

These are someof the most AGGRESSIVE organizations going, and their agenda is downright terrifying. I agree 100% with the author, that the time to fight these assholes with passivity has LONG passed.

Holy crap! I don't know if it's just on my end, but I see my post like 5 times?! I have no idea why that happened. Sorry guys.

And I just noticed I used a "naughty" word the filter didn't catch; my bad GG. I'm afraid to edit it in case of what might happen with my posts! Eep!

Wow Anne...3:30 again??? (What about 4:30...no? LOL!)

In that sense, I agree with Anne that some people "just don't get it". People who believe in certain causes need to take a stand now and quit the laziness.
(This is not directed at you Chris...)
