I feel your pain. I'm near Pensacola, FL and we've had a couple near misses this year. Tropical Storm Fay didn't do too much here and with Gustav we had some high winds and crazy storm surge. We got to experience putting up the storm shields on the windows of our new house though. Hopefully Ike stays away from us!!

I hope you, your family, your weimababies and your home stay safe!!!! Take care!!

Wow guys please stay safe..... I can't even imagine what a hurricane would be like. The only thing we have where I live are bad bushfires in summer
I will be praying and checking back in all the time.

stay safe! Our thoughts are with you. The good thing is that you've planned and prepared, and will be well stocked up and have the windows boarded up, and the dogs will be safe inside with you.

With an earthquake, you never know when it's coming... Shocked

Good Luck. The power just came back on in my house today from Gustav, but fortunately just very minor damage. I don't think hanna will be too bad but be safe.

I'm sitting here with power, water, the works watching the wind blow about 50 mph outside. It's not bad at all. We didn't get as much rain as expected overnight, and it's not raining now. The wind is the worst thing, and it's not even that bad. The storm was right over us at about 5:30 this morning, so it's moving out of the area right now.

Ever tried to walk to puppies who like to chase everything that moves in tropical storm winds??? Yeah.... didn't work too well! There are a few trees down in the neighborhood. We had a storage box that I guess wasn't heavy enough on our front porch and it's nowhere to be found now. But the dogs think that all the limbs down are too much fun and try to pick them up and carry them. Every time the wind howls through the window Zuna growls at it! Too cute. Nothing is open today so we are planning on hunkering down and staying inside for the day.

Firstly stay safe everyone from Hanna and Ike. It's the Turks and Caicos Islands I really feel for who are going to take a direct hit with Ike as a cat 4. My husband flew one of the last planes out of there today before they shut down the airport, having delivered satellite phones for his company.
This time last week we were dealing with Gustav which crossed Jamaica as a tropical storm. Everyone here reckons it was a Cat One, as we took 20 inches of rain in 24 hours and 11 people lost their lives. We were without mains power for two days, some people still don't have, and one of the main roads across the island was destroyed and will take at least a month to make passable.
Shadow slept through most of the excitement. Both of mine went out for their final crap before the wind really started but at 3am, Shads came up and nudged me, looked apologetic and went to find a piece of newspaper to pee on. I swear she'd kept her legs crossed as long as possible, gave me a baleful look and then let rip.
We've had rain most of this week too. I've abandoned all hope of tiles free of muddy pawprints. Sad
Once again, stay safe guys

As I sit here typing the rain is lashing down here. Cuba disorganised it so we're catching the outer bands 150 miles south. The island's under storm watch. I'm watching it.
Shadow is in her bed curled up asleep, our Lab is lying outside out cold asleep catching some drizzle. Her favourite kind of weather.
