We are currently looking into being able to register your rescues similarly to the way you can AKC with an ILP. WE'll keep you posted.

Please don't everybody leave this site based on a ridiculous argument. I just discovered it last spring when I adopted my Romy, and I love it so much. Now, ironically, you are making me want a blue! Can't we all just - oh, never mind.

Forgive my ignorance in regards to varieties, and sorry for going off topic, but seeing as the AKC no longer accepts varieties, does this mean that the Longhair will never be accepted as a variety (and therefore expected to show amongst the SH, or not at all)?
I think it is a good thing to see the Blue weim club moving forward towards getting the blue weim as a separate breed... I am curious, however, do you think that the name will have to change? I only ask because of course the Slovakian Wire Haired Pointing Dog breeders originally petitioned for it to be a wire haired weimaraner variety, yet this was not accepted by the German Klub and so they created their own name... will this also be the case with the AKC?

yes, this is corrrect . LH would not be a separate variety. However, I believe they would try to have the open class split which would mean that the LH and SH would compete seperately then the winners of both would compete for Breed then the winner of Breed would go into Group. This is what BWCA asked for when petitioning WCA members to remove the DQ. Remove the DQ, Split the open class.

Yes, the name would change. Mainly because we don't think WCA would allow us to keep the Weimaraner name. I believe the SWHP's were not allowed to keep the Weimaraner name because they had bred other dogs into the program and they were no longer "Weimaraner's"

Thank you Renee
I hope you are successful - having it as a breed will put a stop to it's "rarity" with BYB's and puppy farms. Best of luck!
