So this is what Chevy and Hemi decided to do while I was gone this afternoon!
Please give me ideas/suggestions as of how to stop this, and train them again! I will take all the advice I can get. Chevy was crate trained, hemi sort of was. But, chevy didn't start doing this until we got Hemi. Is she retaliating..? help .
When I put chairs on the couches, they don't chew them... should I do just this, or re crate train them??

BAD DOGS! BAD DOGS! BAD DOGS!
I got off easy losing a couple of pair of glasses and a chewed kitchen table leg!
Definitely back in the crate...if they can't be trusted, they don't get the priveledge of roaming the house!
Gosh, I'm sorry about your day |

ohhhhhh, I bet your hubby is going to be mad I would defiantly keep them in the crate it is not worth losing furniture over and it will save you the argument's with your hubby! Bailey is still crated. I left the other morning to take my daughter to daycare and left bailey for about 20 minutes. Not going to lie I was scared. For the first time I came home to an untouched house but I do not trust him all day! |

can you confine them to one room?
our dogs are crate trained but we like to give them some more room so we put their crate in a room and they have free reign of that area |

I tried this but it backfired. He ended up tearing down the door almost! Who knows though may work for them! |

lakshmi did the same to our brand new couch. luckily only under one cushion! she is a rescue and has a terrible time with the crate. i feed her in her crate, and put her in for very short periods of time while i am home. next is leaving her in for 2 minutes while i am out.
it just takes time.
in the mean time, she gets kongs (as usual) when i leave, and one sheet of paper in the printer for her to eat. |

| I thought that my couches looked bad. I know how frustrating it is, I have the corners of my couches chewed off but it wasn't any everyday tug of war game with the couches it was just occasional. I continued to put up the occasional tug of war until I hit the enough point and in the crate she went. The crate is the greatest thing ever she has the x-large I think 48 or 46 something around there and she is fairly small at 64 lbs so the perfect size. I don't feel bad about leaving her in there while I am at school and work. She doesn't tear up bedding like I have read or cry so it just really gives me a breather. |

How brave of you to leave 2 weims on their own! I have two large and one medium sized crate in my living room. Takes up MOST of the living room, for that matter, since I have the mini-cooper version of a house! We also have a gate set up to keep them in the kitchen & living room area. But I don't trust these three out of their crates for any length of time when I'm not in the ROOM--much less the house! (They are all under 1 year old and we've only had them since November--so it's really not prudent, in my case!)
So sorry about your couch. Hopefully, you didn't like that one much anyway!

i would crate them. my standing theory, if they are contained, they are less likely to get crazy playing and hurt themselves while you are gone.
good for their safety and your property.
now riley is licking my forehead, so i should go. |

Yes not only to save your belongings but also for their safety. I learned the hard way. Bailey ended up knocking over a vase when I was not home. Needless to say he needed stitches I learned my lesson the hard way, looks like you may have too |

| Absolutely do not leave those dogs out anymore! I would just die if that happened to my couch!!! I have 2 of the XL size crates in my living room and don't leave them out for a minute when I'm gone (well I did leave Duke out for about 7 minutes once and was very nervous...he didn't touch a thing) but he is not destructive whatsoever with the furniture and stuff (so far). I think it's because I was on his case from the time I got him for biting/chewing things he was not allowed to. He knows better.... And Gracie goes in the crate any time I can't completely watch her. She does NOT know better yet, lol. |

It was new 6 months ago. It was a wedding present from my mother.
I feel like such a bad mom crating them. I hate leaving them in there. But they have over done it. I know it's just Chevy though, should I crate both?
I crate trained her!! But ever since we got Hemi, she started this crap. Hemi has severe issue with the crate.
oh dear... I have my hands full. |

| Ya that looks like a new couch. I am so sorry. I know the frustration you must be feeling at the moment. I would crate them both....i think it will be easier on them. If you let one roam free the other is sure to get upset about that. How long are you gone during the day? |

If you're positive that it's Chevy and you can trust Hemi I don't see why you can't just crate her. I leave Lexi out of the crate sometimes when I'm gone and they both do fine. I crate them both even when I'm home. It's because of Holly though. If I can't watch her, in she goes. Maybe one day I'll be able to let her have free roam but I don't see that as being any time soon. She's a big time chewer.
I am really sorry about your sofa.
