Alright...I finally got around to taking pictures of my pigeon coop. (Thanks H20 for the ideas.) It serves a couple of purposes besides housing pigeons.
The top serves a double purpose...a bench for reloading, etc... and an overhang for shelves that will hold my dog training gear. (I want to eventually construct shelves on one side to keep all my dog training stuff organized.)
The pride of it...I used LATEX SEALANT in EVERY crack...(literally) so no spiders can dwell in the corners. I DETEST spiders...so I solved that problem. LOL!
The bottom has vinyl (a large scrap I picked up from a store) so it makes it easy to wipe out. There are also trays at the bottom where I can pull them out and clean up after the birds. Oh...and it is tall enough so they can fly...
In this picture the top was not yet painted but has been currently painted white. (The top is a fire-proof door so it's incredibly heavy...) There is also now wood trim around the outside of the chicken wire...mainly for looks and to avoid anything snagging on it.
Notice...no cracks for spiders to hide in...
Maybe I went overboard on the sealant...but I want to keep the cage easy to clean as possible.
Here are the trays at the bottom, you can also see them in the first picture.

Ohhhh a pigeon condo.
If you think the spiders are bad, wait til you get some lice from the pigeons.

| If you put out a little pan of dry sand or dirt with sevin dust in it, the birds will dust themselves and get rid of any external parasites they might have. It is so much easier than dusting each bird by hand. |

SWANKY as my son used to say when he was younger!!
Ugh I hate pigeons! = Flying Rats. But they are a field trainer's best friend.
I don't like handling birds of any kind for that matter. They are so dirty. I like to shoot them though! |
