he doesn't, but he would love it! i wish i had a video of the first time he went off a dock. it was the first time he'd entered water that was deeper than he could stand in (he'd been swimming for months, but always entered at the water's edge). he tried stepping off the dock like he would have on land. you know, reaching with that front paw, expecting to hit front feet then back feet.
instead he went in vertically; head straight down. the last thing i saw was his little nub tail going under. he just stepped off and was gone with a "bloop". i could see him swimming about 3 feet under water, and he bobbed back up like a cork. i was pretty surprised that when he came to the surface, he just kept on swimming to get the tennis ball like nothing unusual had happened. i laughed until i cried. after that he learned to just jump in instead of trying to step in. |
