I just took Carly to be groomed for the first time at Petsmart. They clipped her nails and did her ears and supposedly bathed her. She does look cleaner but does not smell the least bit cleaner. (not that she ever smells bad, except her paws) Does anyone know if maybe they use a really mild shampoo on weims-or what?? I could have just paid 8 bucks for a nail clip as far as I am concerned. Any tips on getting rid of the smelly paw thing?

We used to take our dogs to petsmart for grooming when they were puppies. They always came out smelling clean but once Koen got older we noticed that he became terrified of anyone touching his feet or clipping his nails. (He never was before, we played with his feet all the time.) I don't know what they did to make him so scared but we stopped taking them there...

I would expect to be able to smell the shampoo. That's odd.

Do you think I should call them?

I would call and ask if they did actually shampoo her, and what kind of shampoo they used. Or take a wet cloth and see if any dirt or hair shows up when you wipe your dog. If she was bathed, I wouldn't expect much of either.
You probably won't get much of an answer even if they did mess up.

She hates the bathroom and the tub. It is so traumatic for both of us when I try. I think I may to find a person instead of a company to do it. Her ears do smell nice, so maybe they chose where they put the shampoo. Hopefully no one is looking through my front window=I must look like a real idiot smelling all over my pooch! Laughing

have you tried small dog grooming boutiques, where you can wash your own dog for 1/2 price.

No, I did not even know they had those. I will have to check around here, but the area I am in is a little behind times.

Maybe they used a soap without smells, like Dr. Bonners. Altho that would be weird because it's expensive and most people want to smell something nice. She never smelled before right? (In other words, it's her breath or anal glands or even eminating from her skin?) I can't help with the foot smell, I like Frito Feet!

She still does not smell bad, I just thought I would notice a shampoo smell. As for the frito feet, it is a little overpowering-it didn't use to be so bad now it sticks to your clothes and hands when she touches you. She got over a foot infection about 2 weeks ago, maybe that's why!

I have a hard time getting Orvis in the tub, but I do have a "Pet Spa" where I can take him and do it myself. They provide a nice big raised basin with a shower head on a hose. It makes it really easy to wash the dog.
