| i don't mind people petting my dogs. but i rather them asking first if they can pet the dog. i don't like walking around and getting stucked because somebody decided to grab the dog. i twas nice at first, but sometimes it gets a little annoying when you are in a hurry and everyone one wants to stop you, especially when you have a puppy... |

generally kids are good and ask first, more so than adults. If I see people coming up without asking I'll put them in a sit, at which points they will sometimes think before just reaching . Funny thing is when they do pet so many people like to bend over to get kisses, very odd. If they do do that I warn them that my dogs are french |

When I am walking Marley in the neighborhood people always cross the streets with their dogs. The thing is I really like Marley to meet new dogs. She is super nice and just wants to say Hi. I honestly think it is the other dogs that have the problems, probably because their owners won't socialize them.
I always warn people 'she might lick you' or 'she might jump on you'. She's not the least bit aggressive, but she might knock you down-I'm really trying to break her of this. |

I find it to be rather annoying, I dont mind if they ask first, but if they come up and pet, I think its rude, besides its a safety concern because Uno is a bit agressive when someone approaches me and hes next to me, he'll often snap without warning. The other day I was walking around the neighborhood and there were couple women standing on the other side of the sidewalk chatting, I made a circle at a culdesac and was going back, one of the woman was like "what a pretty dog" and started running towards us, Uno lunged at her with bared teeth... well.. so much for a pretty dog, this time she was running in the opposite direction. |

| I don't mind at all when people pet my dog. 90% of the time I will ask someone, only because I want to know if its friendly, but Im guilty of petting people's dogs without asking. |

Hopefully, she will learn form that incident. It's totally her fault. You shouldn't run up to any animal without expecting to scare it. |

I understand that a lot of situations allow for people to grope Minna, but the other weekend we were at the dog park and she was playing around with two other weims (it was so cute how they just found each other) and a teenage girl walks up to her, pets her, PICKS HER UP and carries her over to her friends. I, of course, freak out, RUN over there and say, "That dog doesn't belong to you! You should NEVER pick up a dog you don't know! They can take that as a sign of aggression!" She looks at me blankly, which annoys me further, so I continue on in my little rage, "Plus she hasn't had a RABIES SHOT!" (Totally untrue, but, you know ...)
I would never just mess with someone else's dog. It's hard now with my toddler, because he thinks all dogs are as sweet as those in my family, and we're really having to work on appropriate dog/stranger interactions. |

I have to admit, if I see another weim, I want (need) to pet him/her. And I will sit right down at their level and talk to them.
I don't mind if people come up to Scout, Silkie or Gunnar. They love the attention. But most people are hesitant to approach them. I am MUCH more careful with Jake. He isn't mean, but he is very funny about people coming up to him. |

We live in the bad section of town and on a corner lot. (Have I mentioned that I want out of this place?) All the "thugs" walk by then see her and dart for the other side of the road. I chuckle. Just yesterday morning I was outside at like 4am. Zellie was at the corner poopin, I was on the porch. Some guy was walking down the sidewalk and as soon as he got to the corner of the house he stopped. Looked. then made a 90 to the other side of the street. He never saw me and l just chuckled. Zellie never missed a poopin beat. Lol. She just wanted to get the deed done and back under the covers where it's warm (it was 16 degrees)
But yeah, super funny when they make a beeline to the opposite side of the street.
I don't think I have had anybody just walk up and pet her. They always ask. |
