My baby, Jazmin, is 5 and 1/2 months old now. A couple months ago we tried giving her a little peanut butter in a kong but she broke out in hives REALLY BAD. Her entire little body was covered in bumps and her eyes were swollen - very sad. Anyway, we took her to the vet, they gave her benadril and everything was fine. Well, last month we tried giving her a few pieces of carrot and she started to break out in hives again (not nearly as badly as with the PB though). Has anyone else experienced allergies with their dogs? Especially to PB? I would hope she grows out of it but the vet says its unlikely. It seems sad that she will never be able to enjoy and wonders of peanut butter |

Sounds like food allergies to me. Poor girl, my 3 year old Sade has allergies but to the environment so she is miserable much of the summer here.

If you take both times she had a reaction and compare any similarities...could it be something else other than the food....
We do not form an allergy to something the first time we are exposed to it....that makes me wonder if it could be something else..possibly the material the kong is made of...
IMO I would try her again with the carrot but make sure you have benedryl on hand....I would probably wait till shes a bit older... |
