MY BAILEY LIKES TO "NURSE" ON BLANKETS WHEN HE IS UPSET OR STRESSED OUT. HE KINDA BUNCHES THE BLANKET UP AND HOLDS IT IN HIS MOUTH...HE EVEN USES HIS PAWS TO "MILK" IT. HE FALLS ASLEEP DOING THIS. ANYONE ELSE SEEN THIS...ITS KINDA CUTE.

Our late Pit/collie mix did this all the time. Our Gunther does it once in a while, likes to mush the blankets up and then snuggle his face in them. Very Happy

Its really funny. My Dad is always like, What is he doing??? I tell him that he's upset. I'm gonna try to get a pic of it.

Icarus suckles his duck all the time that's his little comfort thing i guess i think it's pretty common in weims...sooo cute though Soppy / in love

That is funny. How old is he?? My cat used to do that when he was a very small, like 8 weeks old. He still "milks" the blankets when he gets tired and wants to be loved. My weim Miley loves to be snuggled up in the blankets but neither of my weims have ever sucked on a blanket. That's so funny. Hopefully you can get a picture. Very Happy

Lincoln loves to "nurse" on his bear, Mr. Watson (lol).

He's an active nurser though, in that he's moving around the whole time, his paws are "kneading" the toy, he's really sucking hard on it, excitedly.

By contrast, his dad Shooter who we're dogsitting, goes superstill, just a tiny little muscle spasm in his jaw area gives it away that he's nursing. That, and the fact that he's got the whole darned toy stuffed in his mouth!

I love when they do it, I just think it's soo soo cute!

i posted a video on youtube of hooch nursing on his baby.. still does it.. i imagine he always will.. it's so sweet, isn't it?

Oh yeah. Sebastian loves to nurse on his precious teddy bear. He too kneads on it while sucking. The dog is almost 4 years old! I guess he'll never grow out of it. But I don't care because it cracks me up.

Here are a couple pictures of Taren in sucky nirvana. He still does this every night when he goes to sleep. It is one of those over sized weiny dogs from the Petsmart (?) commercial. It has seen better days. Now nearing 5 months old he is not too particular. If it is stuffed, has a big nose or face it's suck, suck, suck... Very endearing.

That is absolutely precious!

Udo brings either a stuffed duck or his rubber squeaky duck or gorilla to bed to use as a pillow. Augie snores but you can hear Udo making a clicking sound when he sleeps. When you look, you can see he is sucking.
At two years, he is just a baby dog after all.

That's a pretty normal weim behavior. They think there is a genetic component to it, and it has nothing to do with weaning issues. I have one who "suckles" for hours every day, and she almost trances out when she's doing it. With some dogs it goes away as they get older, others do it into old age.

Give him a special sucky toy and he won't make holes in the blankets! Very Happy

Hannah does this with her "moo cow". I am going to try to figure out how to get pictures posted so you can see her with her cow (or at least try to beg hubby to do it for me!)

She slobbers all over the thing until she falls asleep, usually with it still in her mouth Very Happy

Max didn't suckle on his blanket, he'd bunch up a corner and then bite down on it. He wouldn't chew it, just bite into it and flex his jaw rhythmically. A couple minutes later, and his eyes would be closed, blanket still in his mouth. Silly, silly weims.

tommy licks anything (his legs, the side of his body, my hands, my legs, my couch, my clothes...) to fall asleep....weirds dogs... Rolling Eyes
