okay, so about 30 minutes ago, the dog got a pack of Stride. now, apperently he's gotten to it before and it didn't hurt him, and xylitol is litterally the last ingrediant on the list.
MY MAIN QUESTION IS THIS:
IF THE SAME AMOUNT OF XYLITOL DIDN'T HURT HIM OTHER TIMES HE GOT IT, CAN IT HURT HIM THIS TIME!? I.E. ARE SOME DOGS NOT AFFECTED?
SECOND QUESTION: IF IT CAN STILL HURT HIM, WHATS THE BEST WAY TO INDUCE VOMITING, ITS ONLY BEEN ABOUT 30-45 MINUTES, POSSIBLY LESS |

It's a brand of sugar-free gum, I believe.
Unfortunately, I have no insight, however I'd like to hear from anyone who DOES know what to do in this situation! |

From what I understand xylitol causes liver damage so although the dog appears fine his liver may not be. Within 30 minutes you can induce vomiting with 5 mL of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 10 lbs of weight. BUT after 30 mins the product will have begun to be digested and I would call the vet.
I just noticed your post is from last night. How is the dog? |

My 10 lb. doxie ate a whole pack of gum, and I called the vet (who was not concerned at all). They said that the dog is unable to digest the gum, but it will not do anything to them. They said they would pass it within 24 hours.
My dog was fine, but I am sure that every case is different. I would just keep an eye on him. |
