Odd limp?

Postby Idaviruma » Wed Feb 17, 2010 1:33 am

I lately noticed that whenever I take Uno for a walk, he walks normally and then just for one step he limps and then keeps walking normal again the rest of the way. I recently started jogging with him again on the roads, so I wonder if I should find a different exercise to alternate a bit. I havent seen it happen any other times and he jumps around and plays with no issues.

Any ideas?

Bullet is famous for the "sympathy limp" as we like to call it. He will do it when he thinks someone is watching and he might get a little extra loving. He will do it when we are on our run, if someone is there to see him, when we are in the dog park, again, if someone is there to see him, he has been to the Vet numerous times with it and always we are told there is no problem. The last time at the vet's there was a new Tech and she was petting all over him and he di it in front of her she told the vet and he said that Bullet just wanted attention from a pretty girl. But he will also do it for guys and maybe a piece of steak if he thinks you will feel sorry for him.
I have a dog and sometimes I'll be the littlest kid with my dog and marvel at his ears and his nose and how he looks at me. If he died, I'd bawl like a baby.

I'm sure you've check his pads and between real good? Something really tiny could be imbedded?
Or a little slit that doesn't hurt but every once in a while. Just a thought. Maybe a good warm water
soaking with antibacterial soap.
I've been spritzing their pads with this stuff that has tea tree oil , chamomile and
aloe. They seemed a bit dry and cracking from the snow and ice.

Just a thought.... have you had snow recently, where they've put salt down on the streets? Check in between the pads. It could be that a bit of salt or even a pebble gets in there, irritates, and then dislodges itself.

Yes, we did have a snow last sat and theres some salt on the road, I noticed also some redness between the toes, like yeast infection almost, so I'll check his pawpads as well. I have a medicated rinse that I used before when he had a bacterial infection, but I have some raw shea butter and bag balm that I'll put on his paws tonight.

thanks for suggestions, I'll let you know how it goes.

It could be the start of degenerative bone disease.....which is when the joints in the knee will rub together because the cartilege is wearing away.

The solution is cleaning the joint out. It is surgery but it is non evasive.

Only way to tell if it is this is with an x-ray.
