| I have a weim with the toughest jaws I've ever seen! It can't be the nylabones. Chevy does have chips too, but it was from a marrow bone. No more of those! |

I'm bringing this post back up.
I just bought Linkin a hard plastic like nylabone. He has been chewing it aggressively and once in a while it sounds like either his teeth or the bone are cracking. I just checked his teeth and one is chipped.
I think it's from the nylabone. It's the only thing hard enough to damage his teeth that he has chewed. I know that it's hard enough because he used to have a really big one that he would carry around, but not chew. When he dropped it on the ceramic tile it cracked the tile. We threw that bone away. His new nylabone isn't as heavy so I figured the tile would be safe.
I don't know what to give him to chew on. He chews through the rubber nylabone type things so fast that he breaks off big chunks. I thought this one would be the answer, but not if it breaks his teeth. What can I give him to chew???? |

Wow I never seen this thread .. Zoey and Jada both chew on Nylabones and no chips .. Those things are super hard so it wouldn't surprise me that they may chip a tooth .. We've had this thing for a VERY long time .. I'll def be sure to keep an eye on their teeth more to be safe .. I have a hard time finding something they can chew that isn't torn up in matter of seconds |

I feel your pain. Goose still chews on nylabones (I don't have batteries so I can't take pictures right now) but he's been nice to chew the rubber/rope. I don't know what brand, but this is the clostest thing I can come up with:
but he's chewed through a quarter of a nylabone ring....
He chewed this little nylabone spiky thing and ended up getting rid of the ends. He has a larger version but doesn't pay enough attention to it. He loves to chew on the middle part, which is soft. He got it stuck in in teeth a few days ago, lol but he loves it.

My male had cracked his tooth on the nylobone. The tooth had to be removed .Both of my dogs are very powerful chewers, when I used to by them nylobones and Galileo bones they would grind them to half the size.
So no more any kind of bones in our house.
They have robes to chew on and I started to buy odorless bully sticks. We also have given them antler chews, but the dogs were too hard on them also so we took them away.
Once in a while I would give them rawhide's if I can find any that are not made in China. But even chewing on rawhide's has to be supervised. |

| We are pretty sure Jade chipped a tooth on a Nylabone. We stopped giving them a while ago. The only bones I usually give her are greenies and bully stick type stuff. We put peanut butter in toys to help entertain her. I am not a fan of the rope toys as they are destroyed very quickly in our house. Anything with stuffing is also a mistake for us. I like the kong toys and basketballs. Somehow they manage to survive and she can't get hurt with them. |

I started another thread about the dangers of Nylabones with a letter that I just sent to them.
I'm pissed about this... and the more research I do the more upset I am. I don't understand why there's not a warning on the outside of the package about the dangers. If it would have said there was a potential for chipped teeth I would never have bought it. |

I am so glad I read this post. It had never occured to me that my puppy's teeth could crack because of a nylabone. I agree, they should have warning labels about this sort of thing.
Thanks for the heads-up! |
