I use the Nupro joint formula. They love it. It has a lot of good stuff in it. I started using it just about the same time we switched to a partial raw diet. It complements the raw diet very well.
We don't use any other supplement, just the Nupro.
I don't know if it's the Nupro or what, but Jake appeared to have some joint pain occasionally when we first got him. Now he runs and jumps like a puppy at times. And Scout does very well for all the damage he has from the HOD.
I think it really does help with appetite and digestion, too. |

| yeah, I read the reviews on amazon and theyre great, hes pretty healthy, but at times he'll get upset, gurgly stomach and wont eat anything, drags me outside to find and devour any new grass he finds, which has been hard since were having drought problems, even though I grow wheat grass for him, I think he's still defficient in some minerals, so I'll give this a try. |

Go to our website and hit the link on the right for US Bones. It is actually cheaper from them than from Nupro direct ( don't know how) and Tri State gets a percentage of your purchase

| I got it from amazon, it was $30 for a large tub which will last a while, hes been 2 weeks on it and I havent noticed any drastic difference but he was healthy before, I think the main idea behind it is that its for dogs on poor quality food so it fills in the missing nutrients which is still questionable in my opinion since pet foods have synthetic vitamins in it and last thing I want is to go overboard and have it build up to toxic levels. But I only feed small amount of processed food to begin with, so it wont hurt. He likes the gravy though, licks the bowl clean. |

I'm going to get it for Glacier and I think I'll get the silver? too. She's been moving pretty slow lately, maybe it'll be worth a shot...can't hurt.
Lynn,
Does it seem to help Jake at all? I'm really wanting something that may help her move around a bit easier. Any other suggestion?
Thanks

When we first brought Jake home, he seemed to have some stiffness in his hind quarters. That was why Julie gave me the Nupro to begin with, for him.
Keeping in mind that we got Jake during the coldest part of last winter and he was kept outside during the day I don't know if it is the Nupro or what, but he is moving SO MUCH BETTER now.
About three weeks ago, he started running out the the door with the others dogs. He was just sauntering out while the three young dogs bolted to the back of the yard. Now he bolts with them. And I see him run around the yard with them a little. He doesn't run full out like Silkie and Gunnar but he will run after a bird or back to the house when I call.
It's probably not the Nupro alone but a combination of that and better diet and just being more comfortable in general.
Scout is my HOD boy and has some pretty noticeable deformities in his rear. He does well, too with the Nupro. He is able to run and play with Silkie and Gunnar. I don't think he has the endurance they have, but he does just fine.
The last time we took him to see the vet she was very surprised at how well he is doing.
We were told to keep doing whatever we are doing with him. She never expected him to have the quality of life he does. We keep him very thin, too. That helps. We have gotten him down about 10 lbs in the last year. |

Oh, yes, the weight. Glacier is way overweight! It's really hard to tell with her because she is so furry, but when you try to feel her ribs, no luck. Her diet hasn't really changed over the years (once we found the food that works), but it's probably lack of exercise. Kind of the double edge sword...exercising will help with her weight and muscle, but she's too sore exercise. And I'm sure the change in weather must be bothering her old bones.
Well, I'll try the Nupro. Like I said, it can't hurt and I'm sure she'll love the gravy!!! Hopefully it doesn't mess with her system. She's so sensitive! |
