I understand the concern and I expected this.
Just from my interaction with Kona, I know I can provide more structure for her rather than her being in a home with many more foster dogs.
The point is, it's a trial run and if it is too much, then we don't adopt her but I want to at least give it a try and this is a dog that is having a hard time being placed merely because of her color. |

i am certainly not saying that you shouldnt be kept from EVER owning a dog again.
i just think you should read through your posts when you were giving up sophie. have you addressed all those issues?
my folks' doxie is 4.5 yrs, riley is 9 months, i watched the two of them play last weekend, both can be a handful when they want to be.
yes there is a difference, but there are still a lot of basic needs that are similiar, and until you have addressed all of those issues, you need to think long and hard.
is this really the best move for the dog? what if it doesnt work? then she gets moved back to where she came from, or to another temporary house? are you able to commit to keeping her until a permanent home is found, even if you arent able to be that permanent home? is she best in a 1 dog house, or with other dogs? our zoe could never be in a 1 dog house, she just doesnt do well on her own. |

Yes, I do remember. I know what I went through, I know what I did for Sophie and I've thought about this a great deal. I filled out an application, I've discussed Sophie and I was very honest about where I was and my abilities to care for a dog.
I take this very seriously. Because of the record foreclosures there is a huge pet crisis going on right now. Can I help all the dogs? NO, but maybe I can help one dog, maybe I can save one life.
I know it really doesn't matter what I say though, there are people here who are going to judge anyway they want, that's their prerogative. |

Seeking attention for what? Seeking out criticism and judgement?
My question was sincere and I knew this was a place I'd come to before for advice. I searched for information on bringing a foster home and didn't find what I was looking for, so I thought I would ask here, that's it. |

I've read all your story about Sophie and didn't comment.
I don't think I have the right to judge you or your life and all.
I'm pretty glad Sophie is fine with a great family that loves her. I'm not saying you don't love her.. Don't missunderstand me!
All I want to say is that the impression I get is you're playing the victim here (and in Sophie's topic) and the only victim here was Sophie!
That's all I want to say!

Well, I don't think anyone was a "victim". Sophie is happy and healthy, how is she a "victim"? Seriously? Why all the melodrama? A VICTIM?
Sophie taught me a lot about myself and I learned many lessons on the journey I had with her. I did everything that I thought was right for her.
I've taken full responsibility for everything I've done concerning Sophie, so I don't see how that is being a victim. I do think I have a right to "defend" myself and try to explain where I'm coming from but I don't see myself as a "Victim".
Through all of this, I've been polite, I've been patient and I've answered all questions posed to me. |

I say Sophie was a victim because she was in a house that was loved and had to move to another's!
Despite of the great family she has now and despite how much you loved her (don't question those points), the change is a great deal to her! That's why I think she was a victim (was, because now, as far as I've read, shes doing fine).
I re-write, I don't criticize you or your acts, I don't even know you and your past and your reasons!
I just don't like the "I know it really doesn't matter what I say though, there are people here who are going to judge anyway they want, that's their prerogative." It looks like a victim's approach to me! Sorry if I misunderstood you!

I get it, it's more about how people will think what they want and it's not for me to judge them either. I'm the one who has to live with me and my choices as does my family, people can post as many opinions as they want but it's not going to be nor should it be everything I base my choices on.
God, I hope that made sense. |

yes it does make sense!
I guess people come here seeking for something!
Sometimes help, sometimes someone TO help, sometimes just to laugh at...
I do come here often to seek for help, since I'm a newbie regarding to weims... I also come here to share my moments and funny stuff about my puppy and sometimes I need an opinion of some point!
But, it's OPINIONS, that's all there is!!! It means I do whatever I want after that! But at least I get more conscience of the consequences of my acts (or predicted better the consequences, if it makes sense).
You shared a point and people gave their opinion (agreed or not with you), polite or not, just opinions...
You get all you want from it! that's what's opinions are about! Like it or not!
Make sense?

Wait.....I'm totally confused here (and I'm not getting involved in the "scandal"). Are you considering fostering this girl with the option to adopt, or are you considering adopting her but only on a trial run???
Two things:
1 - You said she's having a hard time being adopted because of her color. Then if you agree to "foster", what if that turns into more time than you can physically handle?
2 - If you're considering adopting her and it doesn't "work out" then what about the loss of any possible families that may have been interested?
In either case, the dog will need exercise and training and supervision, etc (typical dog requirements). You posted in the past that there are days where it's a struggle just to get out of bed. If your condition is improving, then that's GREAT! But if not, then, I know you want to help, but maybe it may be more helpful to contribute in other ways??? Honestly, it just seems way too soon to take on another task that your body might not be able to handle. And it is unfair to the animals to be shifted around from one place to another. |

Well, she would still be posted as an adoptable dog. I've gone through this with the rescue group and told them my circumstances and this is who they thought would be a good match. Now I want to see how it will go.
This would not preclude her from being adopted by anyone else, so I don't see how that could happen.
And yes, I am doing much better and working with a Rheumy to figure out what is going on. I'm losing weight and taking better care of myself. I've been given the option to cut my hours at work if I need to. |

i don't know....i ususally don't judge, but i am still confused here.
first of all, you can't be upset for people responses. if you don't want judgment, don't post here, ask questions in an other foum where they don't know about sophie.
you gave up sophie because you said a dog was too much to handle for you in your situation.....well it hasn't been that long since you gave sophie away...and you situation already improved? well, i am glad for you that it improved so fast.
i think that if you don't want a dog because you can't handle her/him, it means you shouldn't have any dog, no matter the size, the colour and the circumstances.
what i mean is if you give up a dog because it's too much for you while you are ill, why would you jump and get an other dog? even if it is a little dog, the needs are the same of a big dog. (exercise, play time, feeding, getting up to let them go potty...)
so to me it sounds just like you din't want sophie anymore, and now you are just looking for an other dog.
i am sorry, i am not trying to be mean or anything. but if you keep saying that you couldn't keep sophie because of your situation, then adopting an other dog, makes no sense to me.
if you just say you didn't want sophie anymore because you couldn't handle a weimaraner, then makes more sense if you go and get an other dog.
