Thanks so much guys!! I really am thrilled to be lucky enough for another weim. They have touched my heart so very much, and I have no idea how I would go on each day if I didn't get their kisses each and every morning.
I had such a lovely wake up call this morning from Hemi. A few kisses on the cheek and a few little moans letting me know it was 5:30. I can't wait to bring Astro home. I'm hoping that he'll adjust quickly and be back to his happy Weim self in no time at all.
While I'm on this subject - I wanted to say thank you again for being a part of this site. I have no idea what I would do without you all. I was telling my family last night, and they kept rolling their eyes at me and brushing me off. All they had to say was "Another dog? Are you crazy? Isn't two enough? Seriously Brittany?" So here were my responses - Yes, another WEIMARANER. Yes, I am crazy. But they are also crazy about me. There could never be enough weims in my home thank you. And, I am totally serious. It's people like you who disregard animals just because they aren't human. And, you wonder why millions of them need homes and die. Oh that's right... to you they are 'just dogs'.
Made for an interesting dinner . The bull came out. Oops.
So, back to happy... I love my weims more than most, ok the majority of people. And, they love me the same way. How can anyone say that a dog is just a dog? Have you seen how they greet you? They never meet a stranger. Always smiling by wagging their tail with their hearts.
Awe, tears here...
We go up @ 11. If all works out... We can take him right home. I planned on going over to quiet waters afterwards as well. It said on his form that he LOVES to swim and play. (Like most) So, I thought it would be a great treat for him, and a way to burn off some of that pent up energy.
Would that be too much....?
And, we are naming him Diesel. Hubby picked it. I don't care what we cll him, as long as he's mine!
So, thank you all again! I will DEFINITELY have pics up here this evening! I have to send out his birth announcements...!!
Lots of Licks, Chevy, Hemi, Diesel, Brittany and Joey. |

The car theme is so fun! When I first joined this group I had to show my husband Chevy and Hemi....his comment was, how did they get so lucky? I always pick out our dogs names here, and he was totally jealous of your furkids names....
Diesel is cool! We have friends with a yellow lab named Diesel....

Brittany, I couldn't agree with you more. Dogs are not just dogs to our family either. We love them all so much.
Congrats again on getting Diesel, I can't wait to see pics of all THREE!
And as for once you pick him up. We foster dogs and when you first get them they are pretty nervous. Is this some place he would be off leash? If so, I don't think I would go there first. You need to make sure you can trust that he will come back to you and he is already going to be nervous enough. I would suggest taking him home first, getting him settled in and then maybe in a few days take him up there. In the meantime if he likes the water maybe buy him one of those little kid pools that are only like 10 bucks or something just to keep him cool in this hot weather. We have one of those for our doggies on the days we can't get to the dog park.
Best of luck once you get him. I bet it feels like Christmas morning right about now huh? |

Sure does!! I am so excited! The park is off leash, but it is fenced. I think it would be good for him to burn off some steam. Plus, if he's anything like Hemi, once he gets home... he gets a 2nd wind. It's like we didn't just spend a gagillion hours exercising. He looks at me like "You're tired?!? "
Just got his collar and leash. I have to stop at Petsmart later and get an ID tag too. |

I bet it does. I have had so much fun reading this thread. I told my husband the other day that you remind me of myself. I am the same way when it comes to getting a new animal.
Have fun and I am can't wait to see the pics. I am so excited and happy for you! |

I too would take him home first. I always have a fresh bowl of water and a dish with a little food in when I bring home a new rescue, so they know they can eat and drink here. Let him sniff around the house and the garden and familiarise himself with the place, then spend some snuggle time on the settee. I don't take a new one for a walk till we've been here at least a couple of hours and we've had some all-important bonding time, THEN we go walkies armed with a pocketful of treats bribery for recall.
I only have one dog at a time, you have 2 others, so I don't know how that will work, nor will you till it happens and I wish you all the best with it.
What I would do asap probably tomorrow as it's Sunday, is get some Flower Essences to help with the emotional side of things - Bach Star of Bethlehem for trauma and Walnut for change. He may also need something to help with losing his "sister" and she will also benefit from essences when she is rehomed alone, would be good if the staff would pass that info on. Doseage is 4 drops 4 times daily on a treat/ in water/in food and/or rubbed in top of head between ears. It's fine to put in communal water dosh as any not needed by any animal bounces off the system, but I'd also have a dish with plain water so they can choose.
All the best, hope they all like each other. |

What a smile this brings to my face today...Diesel will be one loved and happy dog once he is in his new home!
What your wrote about telling your family...here is what I have to say "welcome to my world" We get the same flack, and the whole how much money are you spending now? And why would you want that many dogs? My answer to them..."what do you all care, its not as if you come to our house anyway" And well we have no real kids, these happen to be our choice at the moment...
Our dogs are our life, and they give us more happiness then anyone that does not have a dog in their lives will ever know. The loyalty, the unconditional love, the just being there for you when ever you need them and not having to hear "sorry I don't have time" is the best part of owning a furkid.
I actually feel sorry for people who don't have a dog...they just don't know what they are missing...
Anyways, congradulations on your new furkid! I can't wait to see pictures of the welcome home gang!
