We only have 2 weims. We were kind of thinking on getting another one.
The only problem is we can only have 2 dogs in our subdivision,so my DH said: "Will just walk 2 at the time, and no one will never know!!" ha ha ha
I thought that was really funny and actually not a bad idea Wink .

Well, I applied for the two weims in Annapolis MD spca today. They are stunning, and I would love to have them both.

So I had to check out Abbie & Astro - so cute!! OMG, they are adorable. Can't wait to hear how it turns out.

To answer the poll question - I have two. I love the differences in their personalities and quirks. And they Heart each other. But two is my limit to leave room for foster dogs when needed.

When I went up there, the lady at the desk kept saying how many applications they had on them. But I asked the girl that took them out for me if any other weim owners had come forward, none she said.

I noticed that at their listing on the SPCA's available dogs, it says "Experienced Weimaraner people only please", so it sounds like you have a really good chance of getting one, or both!

The volunteers said they have had many applications for both, but have not had one weim owner step forward. So, I guess I get moved up a bit.

I would love to take Astro home (the boy, who is HUGE) if I had to choose one. He is larger, perfect romping partner for Hemi. He's 2.

But Abbie is 7 months old, and just precious. She's no bigger than about 35lbs. She is sooo small. I would be worried about Hemi's play. But she appeared to give her brother a run for his money today Wink .

They came from the same home, different litters, same breeder. The family was being deployed, so there they are.

I was talking to hubby, and he wants Astro. I just know he'll fall in love with Abbie too. Fingers crossed please!!

They were happy that another weim lover applied as well. They looked at me like I had four heads when I said I wanted to apply for both. Then they saw that I have two. The response went something like... "Oooooh. You already have weims! That's great! Wait, you'd have four? Are you nuts?!?" I replied "Yes." Very Happy

I know it's work, but I am willing to take on that challenge and give two needy weims another great home.

Am I nuts...?

No..you are perfectly sane Silly wink

I hope so. The volunteer that let me play with them made it sound like they rarely let a family have both dogs..? She said that I had to mention that to the front desk, but I had a chance.

They are in the same family, and if they can, should remain that way right? I know they probably think it's tons of work, and they are right. However, I am willing to provide a loving and nurturing home for two more. I get the impression that it can't happen.

I already have a routine in place. Adding two extra bowls and two extra leashes isn't going to kill me. They will soon adapt as Chevy and Hemi did. They are doing beautifully now.

Can you imagine me @ the park or on walks with four?! People are REALLY going to stare now Laughing !

Abbie is so very small though. She might be about 35lbs, she looks like a poodle compared to her brother. And Astro is a monster! He's humongous!

I know I might be jumping the gun here, but we will rename the pair, and I am not sure what to choose...
I want to stick with the 'car' theme, tee hee. Any ideas?

I was thinking Viper... or Diesel...?

Four is a lot of work..and you are talking about two puppies. But I know you can do it, I could do it. If you love these dogs enough, you make it work. You will have your share of scraps; that's a given. Especially as the pups get older and their personalities develop. Sheesh, Gunnar will be three is September and he has changed so much in the last 6 months..his attitude, I mean. He is not as meek anymore. He expresses himself vocally, he never did that. It is so funny to watch the changes in him.

Remember it takes time for dogs to adjust to each other. Not days, weeks or even months sometimes. We have had Jake for 1 1/2 years now and the three younger dogs just recently started to accept him into the pack family. My old man was an outcast with them. I am so pleased to see Miss Silkie give him a nuzzle now and then.

Keep us posted.

That would be so cool! If you can handle it, and you know deep in your heart that those two babies need you, then go for it, and I hope that place that they are at will look at the experienced weim part and totally think of you and your family!!!

The car theme is so fun! When I first joined this group I had to show my husband Chevy and Hemi....his comment was, how did they get so lucky? I always pick out our dogs names here, and he was totally jealous of your furkids names....

Diesel is cool! We have friends with a yellow lab named Diesel....(jaguar) call him jag for short....lol!

names are serious business for dogs!

Chevy and Hemi are still getting it sorted, but she is ultimately in charge. I was very impressed with the two of them. Abbie is a pistol (maybe I should name her that Wink ). She was tugging all over Astro's ears nipping him every where as she is still young. He's a bit older (2), so he just rolls his eyes and takes it. They were such a lovely pair.

I know it's not going to be easy, but obviously this is my calling Smile .

We tried to get several other dogs, with no luck before we got Chevy. I saw her, and the rest is history. It takes a special (and somewhat crazy) person to take care of weims, and I feel lucky to be one of those people.

I know you use car names but I'm going to "have" to veto Viper, that was my 1st husbands dream car (many arguments over him wanting to get that stupid car). Stormy was going to be Axel or Diesel....
John made the final decision.

I like Libby a lot, but she is a fire cracker, so I like Turbo also for her.

I really like Diesel, Hummer (he's built like one), and Titan for him.
