How not to do a tunnel start line

Just a short shot of our crazy start to one of our standard courses last weekend. Thought you agility people would be amused. Everybody else was, even the judge was laughing!

Hand feeding and SA

Storm and I are always working through motivation and drive issues in agility. One thing that some of agility people do around here to increase their bond with their dog and emphasize that they are more rewarding then environmental rewards, is to hand feed them their food. I was thinking about giving it a try, but my husband thinks that it could increase her SA tendencies and backfire. She doesn't have the type of SA ...

How did you get into Agility?

I've been told by the Vet that Crash would do well with Agility and that it helps to burn off extra energy. I was curious to know how everyone got into it? How quickly did your weim pick it up?

FAST

Okay need advice from agility friends. I'm just contemplating whether or not to sign up for FAST. The group I train with typically don't care much about qualifying in FAST. They indicated that it could be a good warm up. It really won't cost me that much more. However, it will only be a warm up if FAST is run before standard and JWW. Not sure if that is the case? Any one have strong ...

Starting agility next week

Hi everyone!

I have registered Whiskey (who is now 15 months old) for his first agility class starting next week! It is novice level... I'm pretty excited about it! My goal isn't competition, just to have fun and to bond with Whiskey.

Any advice from the more experienced agility people?

Thanks!

Jen :)

Gotta love having nights like this...

... when your novice dog is performing right along side the more seasoned dogs, and doing as well as they are, and in some cases better!!

First night of the new session, and it felt like someone just flipped a switch, and there's Hunter doing every darned thing I asked of him! And I mean EVERYTHING! Even his old nemesis the see-saw he did beautifully. The weave poles had the wires set about three inches ...

Random Draw for agility trial?

Okay guys, I'm getting ready for "drum roll" my first trial! So please be patient, I'm going to have tons of questions. The premium for the trial just came out and there is all kinds of info on a random draw. What is the random draw. It says random draw entry period opens at a certain date and ends at another and they actually have the random draw at someone's house. What's that about? Hope ...

double Q

Had a great weekend in MN. Packer went 3 for 4 with a double Q on Sun. This broke our streak of having 1 QQ a year. :) We actually had 2 this year so far. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a big deal for us!!
Going to give the video thing another try, hope it works. You see on the standard course how much time ...

Warm up before Agility

Was wondering if anyone warmed up their dog before practice and trialing? I have a friend who's dog pulled a muscle in her back and has been out for over a month recovering. Was making me think that maybe I should be warming Storm up before class? Not sure how to accomplish this other than walking her and having her take a few jumps at lower heights. What do you guys do?
