Hi everyone, im a first time weim owner, he's name is Bailey and he is 14 weeks now. we got him when he was 11 weeks.

He is extremely good, he knows to go outside for wee and poo, he sleeps all night and doesnt wee in his crate. However, when we are out of sight he tends to wee, we were told this was due to being nervous and not separation anxiety, and that he wil grow out of it.
Can anyone help with this?

Thanks guys.

Welcome! I have a 14 week old puppy, too! What fun! Very Happy

Re: the peeing...I want to say that yes, he will grow out of it. I've never had this issue. Do you mean he pees whenever you guys leave, like immediately? In his crate or when you leave the room he's in? Sorry to be dense, but it sounds like a submissive urination, which probably will go away as long as you don't pay any attention to it.

He's a cutie!

Hey meredith, thanks for your reply.

Whats your pup called?

Bailey will cry for a few seconds, and if we dont come back immediately he will do a wee. So it is almost immediately once we are out of sight.

He doesnt really wee in his crate, he did the other day though when he was left in his crate for 4 hours whilst at work- this was the first time he was left for the 4 hours- the max time he has been in crate before this was just over 2 hours.
He is only left for 4 hours twice a week, and 2 hours in the afternoon mon-fri, and the crate seems to be wee free for those 2 hours.

Hope he does grow out of it. Can u help with the biting when over excited?

Hope to speak soon.

Kirsty xxxx

Her name is Macy. Very Happy

As far as the biting goes, there are a lot of threads on this forum talking about the dreaded puppy biting phase. What works best for me is yelp like a puppy--make it really dramatic like she bit a finger off--and immediately stop the play. Get up, walk away, whatever. And you can add a "no bite!" once the pup gets the hang of it. Same with nipping at the heels/legs, which Macy is fond of. Stop walking and don't look at the puppy.

He is very cute. At 14 weeks he still has a lot to learn. Consistency is the key with a weim. Good luck with you pup.
