Mule... To each his own brother.. If you keep your dog outside so be it. Everyone is not about having dogs in the house... Yes weims. like their humans but, it's your house do as you please.... Stick around you will love it... It's all about the dogs here... There is a wealth of information on this site you will find useful. Yes your dog is a hunter.. Keep doing your research on the breed and you will find that when hunters though out the years have taken their beloved "hunting dogs" hunting, it is only the weimaraner that gets to go into the house at the end of the day... However, like I said it is your house do as you please. Don't be put off by the people here... WE LOVE OUR ANIMALS..... Thats what we do.. Thats why we are here.

In the end you will see how much everyone here loves this breed. Please stick around and give us a chance and post some pictures, please.
I asked about Redwater because I had never heard of it before. I live right outside Tyler. |
Tyler is, right at, 120 miles from my house.
I can't post pictures at this time. |

I will be around, reading, seldom posting.
My dogs are well taken care of, and I spend plenty of time with each of them.
APBT's are like the Weimaraner, and most breeds, they live for the time they can spend with their human.
I am on my place, with the dogs, almost 24/7.
I will post pictures eventually. |

I am no longer, physically, able to hunt. I used to hunt Squirrel, Deer, rabbit,
Coon, & hog. My dogs know nothin bout huntin.
I have these dogs as companions for me.
I do realize that one dog would be best as a companion, and I got Dixie for that reason. Well, she came in heat, for the second time. I bred her to another red nose pit, thinkin it would help settle her down. NOT!. She is still hyper. I couldn't help but keep the last male puppy, Rebel. Then this feller wanted to git rid of Buck. Buck was the most hyper 6 year old dog I had ever seen [cause he never got fooled with]. So I took him. And then came lil ole Jake, the Weimarner,. He was given to my daughter by a friend, when my son-in-law came home to this puppy, he said; "NO"!. She brought him to me, so I could find him a home. I didn't even try. He, along with the other three, is here to stay. It's like my wife says, "You ain't never found a home for a dog that comes to this place".
Before any of you ask, I don't believe in altering an animal. Unless it is to improve the quality of the meat, for table fare. I don't eat dogs.
Yes I know, I only need one. |

Welcome from Mississippi! I also "inherited" my weim, Schmitty, when he was 4 mos old. Original owners decided they didn't want him because he had too much energy and they were "tired" when they got home from work every day. Their loss has been my gain, and the best thing that's ever happened to me (ummm, other than my husband)!!
I understand your mentality of "dogs outside" because my husband is...was... that way. I am originally from Chicago and up there everyone has their dogs inside. However, in the South its a little bit different. When I first came here 7 yrs ago I had never heard of an "outside" dog. But that is where many Southerners keep their dogs. My husband grew up with all of his dogs except one, as outside dogs. His parents currently have 3 and they guard/ protect their house.
However, with a lot of "husband training" Schmit is as inside as a human, with a plush bed and body pillow that lays on the floor next to me. Spoiled rotten! My husband claims he is smarter and more like a person than many people he's met! Don't get me wrong though, Schmit loves to be outside too. He'll go lay out in the backyard for hours in the sun.
Anyways, regardless of where you keep your dogs and as long as you love them as much as we love ours...WELCOME!!! |

| Weims can be happy outside dogs.....as long as you don't mind staying outside all the time yourself. |
