hi,
a note of introduction,
our new weim puppy girl will arrive this weekend! yeahhhhhhhh
we are a energetic family with 3 kids, yes two are small, everyone thinks we are crazy except the breeder( who has 7 weims, 4 kids and 12 horses!) but we are SO ready to meet our new girl! dharma is her name:)
so any advice is much appreciated, also we are thinking of feeding her totally raw.......again, i look forward to hearing other weim owners experiences with raw food, so far i have read many many good things..epically less incidence of bloat!
well gotta run and puppy proof the house:)
be well,
noel |

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your new puppy. Post lots of pictures, we love em.
Raw is the way to go. We have four and we do a partial raw diet. We still do kibble in the morning, but a very high quality natural product. It just makes the mornings a little easier. |

Oh no, that is terrible.
But I've heard of people adjusting to their pets and allergies getting better after a week or so, so maybe you shouldn't make such a quick decision?
Of course though, if you are sure, on the other hand it will give her breeder a much better chance to rehome her with another family |

I am still thinking about you and I am so sorry for you.
I wouldn't return her too quickly...there are shots and allergy meds. and there is always the possiblitly that after a week or two, your body will adjust.
When my husband was young, he was always sick and his mother was told that he was allergic to EVERYTHING. Especially wheat and dogs. She agreed to allergy shots, but never kept him away from anything. His father even went a got him a puppy.
You build up a tolerance if you continue exposure.
You were so excited about getting her and I just think you should give it a little more time than one day....... |

| BTW, John had Boots (the puppy) until he passed at 14 years of age......just thought I'd add that. |

I'm so sorry.
As a fellow allergy sufferer (I am allergic to everything but dogs), I know how absolutely miserable it makes you feel.
Good luck! |

Oh, gosh! I want you to know that I was soooo alergic to Sterling for the first three weeks that I had her! I sneezed so much I thought I would die! But I know from past experience (I'm allergic to ALL animals!) that I would work through it, and I did! She can now sleep all up in my face and not so much as a sniffle. not an itchy spot at all...
awww...I wish you might give it a chance |

yes, sigh thank.......for the words...my reaction was so strong it affected my breathing.........she was just beautiful and the kids thought she was something,
we returned her quickly because i didnt want the puppy to attach to us then go back and then to another home, it turns out the breeder was in love with the girl(i can understand why) and wanted to keep her for herself so she was very hapy to have her back again.......
gosh.............thanks again everyone.......we are looking into a lagotto or a portugeese water dog since they are considered hypoallergenic.......of course all dogs can cause allergies......but anyway........sigh........most importantly i will visit our new prospective puppy many times before we bring her home:)
blessings everyone

Noel,
I am still very sorry. A standard poodle may be another option. They have hair, not fur and are not fru-fru at all. They are actually fierce hunting dogs...and can be quite striking.
Best of luck. And please let us know how things go. |
