| So we have our little bundle of joy (Salem) home. She is 7 and a half weeks old and like all puppies she loves to nip toes and hands while playing. Its cute and fun now but how do I stop this?? She already drew blood on my fiancee and her sister playing around. I know she doesn't mean to, for her its all a game, but I don't want her to get older thinking this is OK behavior. |

There's a few good posts around on how to show her this behaviour is bad.
We used to yelp when Ruby got us.. That's what her litter mates would be doing, they yelp to tell the other that 'hey, that hurt' and probably walk away.
So I suggest some of the following. Yelp, turn away to tell her playtimes over. Redirect her nipping to a toy or something similar. Take time out when she's getting excited, leave the room for a couple of minutes (not too long, see Weimaraner Crimes post ) and then come back.
We lost a few pairs of pants when she was little, drew blood a few times. But salvation is coming.. those little razor teefers will be falling out soon enough! |

| Do exactly what she said and I can almost guarantee you that the nipping will stop and it will never become a serious problem. Happy teething! |

They pretty much summed it up. Everyone on here is great with advice.
This is why some breeders won't release their puppies until they are 8 or even 10 weeks old. They learn this stuff from their litter mates. 6-10 weeks is a VERY important time during their development so its important to correct the behavior pretty quick. |

| Yes, yell OWE very loud and meaning full. As puppies their moms will yelp if they feed too hard or nip them so they know what that means. It really does work. |

| Yelping and/or saying Ouch! is a great way to prevent it. |

| A high pitched yelp from us worked, wonders for us with the nipping. Plus she had 2 older brothers to "correct" her when she got out of line..lol |
