Hi!!!!
Just found this forum and I am very excited to have so much information on it regarding the breed!!!!
I have just added a 8 week Weim to my family and are very exited about it. Her name is Zelda and i am very happy with to have her on board.
Besides Zelda I also have 3 Chihuahuas (you can tell from my avatar), I am sort of concerned on how will they get along in the future but hope everything is fine
I used to have a weimaraner like 20 years ago but we didn't provide him with any training, i remember he was a very friendly dog but sort of a mess. Now i wanted to change everything and have just started to provide clicker training to Zelda last week.
Believe me, tomorrow i will start reading information from this forum like crazy! In the meantime any suggestion that you can think of would be greatly appreciated!
Saludos!!!

Hi, and welcome!
I just joined this site last week. It's been great to come here and get tons of good advice! I have a 10-week old Weim baby named Sterling.
Seems like your other pup gets along pretty well with Zelda by the picture you posted! I have two Jack Russel Terriers that have had to get used to the puppy. The first couple of days were a little touch and go, but after a little over a week, my younger female now plays with the puppy. My male, who is usually aloof anyway with other dogs and people, just pretty much ignores her, and she stays away from him. Once they get the pack order straight, they will get along fine Clicker training is GREAT. I have used it on my two horses and have just started it with the puppy. It makes training so much easier and faster!!
Again, welcome to the forum!!!

Hi, and Welcome to the forum. You will get lots of information here.
I feel it depends on training and the dog. I have 2 weims and 2 toy poodles they do great together. But, my daughter has 1 weim and 1 chihuahua and the weim wants to eat the chihuahua. They have all had the same training. My weims "grew: up with cats, played with them as puppies, now they want to eat them and will if given the chance.
I do feel if you train, train, train, it will be o.k. |

Currently both female chihuahuas play a lot with the weim, the male chihuahua doesn't care about them (my oldest female chihuahua was the leader of the former pack of three)
I feel that the weim is actually just playing but both chihuahuas seem to be sort of mad, i feel that they are fighting with her, not just playing...
Do you have any suggestions on what could i do to avoid the Weim wanting to kill the chihuahuas in the future? Right now she is just a bit bigger than the chihuahuas but i know that in a few weeks she will be noticeable bigger and heavier and i wouldn't want to have a harm dog. Do you think I should separate them or the best bet would be to keep them together? |

Sounds like the chihuahuas might just be trying to establish a pack order. I would let them just try to work things out as long as it doesn't turn too serious. A couple in my agility class have 3 chihuahuas and a weimaraner. They tell me the weim is at the bottom of the pack order. She is just really happy and mellow and all the dogs get along fine.
My weim scout lays on the grass in class and lets the chihuahuas climb all over her. She loves the attention.

It took about a week for my jacks and Sterling to establish the pack order. I watched them very carefully during that time. Now, my male dog just pretty much ignores her, and my female will even play with her and let her crawl all over her. Just be patient. They should all work it out...remember YOU are the leader no matter what |

Thanks for your advise!!
Right now they have been together for two weeks, hope they can work things out soon.
Chihahuas seem to be pretty stubborn dogs, my youngest female is still fighting with the older for the pack leadership after one year... |

| Ha Ha! My oldest Jack Russel is almost 7, and my female is coming 6 years old. They've been fighting over that pack establishment for about 6 years now! They are both pretty equal, but I'd say the girl wins most of the time if they argue. The only time they fight is over toys or food, so I've always had to monitor those occasions. They live together happily "most" of the time though |
