Hello,
My name is Alice, my husband is Michael and we are the parents to two dogs. Dash is our Weimaraner mix and Gulliver is a Shih Tzu. And we just applied to the Weimaraner Rescue of North Texas, hopefully we'll be approved.
I hope that it is alright if we join here since our boy is not 100% Weim.
We live in East Texas. Our house backs up to a golf course. Saturday, 11/8/08, Dash got out of our yard and was seen on the golf course following a couple around. He was wearing his collar and is very healthy so they asked the club house if they knew who's dog he was. They said they didn't know who, but he did belong to someone that lived around the course. Next thing they knew, the couple had taken Dash. We have contacted vets, humane societys, hung fliers, contacted police, and have posted ads on Craigslist, Petfinder, and several other dog finding sites. The golf course does not know who the couple was and will not show us their log of that day for privacy reasons. We are at a loss of what to do and we don't really know where to turn next. Our home and hearts are empty without our Dash!
Sorry for the long spill. I hope we are welcome here at Weim addicts.
ETA: a pic of the boys!

oh no, that is just terrible!!! Did his tags have your contact information on it? Who would just take a dog and not make any attempt to find it's owners, especially since a week has passed!! OH, I hope you find him soon
I can't believe the golf course wouldn't tell you who took him!! |

Ironically, his tags had fallen off and were lost just about two days before. We were going to get new ones made but we obviously didn't do so quickly enough. They could have at least gone to a few homes and asked if he belonged to anyone. Everyone in our neighborhood knows he is our dog. |

Did you ask the golf course to contact them?? That is terrible. I hope you get your boy back.
I would hang around the pro shop the next Saturday and hand out flyers. Maybe they are regulars. |

| Yes, I have seen your ad on Craig's List just last night. I have not seen the flyer's yet but will be looking for them. I hope the golf course will tell you who took him and I also would be there asking everyone who comes in on Sat. if they know who has him. By his pictures he is beautiful. |

As everyone else, I hope you get Dash back.
And of course you are welcome here even if he is not 100% weim! Especially since you are planning to rescue!
Good luck and let us know what you find out! |

| Dash is a handsome boy. Like the others on the board, I wish you a warm welcome and hope your pup is returned to his rightful home soon. |

Sorry to hear about Dash, and welcome to the site. Wish that didn't have to be in the same sentence!
Why are the police unable to do anything? I would think that this would fall under theft at this point? They know someone there took him, and obviously you are looking for him. What are they saying? |

Welcome to the boards.
I am so sorry to hear about Dash. This might sound odd...but have you tried to contact your local news channels? Maybe they could help you out or maybe they could put a little pressure on the golf course to get in contact with whomever was there the day he was taken from you. |

Thanks everyone.
Today my husband went back to the course. I don't know what he told them to change their minds but they looked at the list with him. They narrowed it down to two men who live in different nearby towns. We looked them up and got pictures. Both men have criminal records. We are taking the pictures to the course tomorrow to see if they can verify which man it was. Please keep fingers and paws crossed that this is it! We may get him back afterall... |
