Fur Kids: Enzo - weimaraner
PostPosted: Wed Nov 19, 2008 3:19 pm    Post subject: New from canada with a gassy weim Reply with quote

hi there, i was browsing the internet today with hopes of finding information on weimaraners and 'farting'. My weim, Enzo, seems to produce the most awful gas and sometimes it is a bit embarrassing! He's always been like this. He's two and I feed him Innova turkey and potato. He's tried many different brands, but this one so far is the best. He still gets runny poops now and then...but i'm starting to believe this is typical of weims. Does anyone else out there have a weim that farts all the time, or is it just mine? Please help!

Welcome from Toronto where Yoko only farts occasionally and in the most ladylike fashion. LOL.

Welcome from southeast of Toronto where we're almost gas free and rarely stinky!

Sometimes gas is from the food being too rich however you mentioned that you've tried a few. I would also consider adding probiotics (plain yogurt with live cultures) to help digestion.

Welcome from the West Coast! Taren only occasionally farts as well, but can clear a room in a hurry if I have changed up his food. Only on WA is the subject of pooping, peeing and farting so regaled. Laughing

It is sort of typical in that one of our common health problems is digestion issues, but in and of itself, regular farting is NOT normal or healthy. This is a weird thing to "brag" about but my dogs very rarely fart, and I mean like once a year or something like that.
Try a probiotic supplement as peppernai suggests and/or also a digestive enzyme. The poops should always be solid, not runny.

If my dogs get anything other than just their regular dog food they tend to get a little gaseous! And it's not pleasant. It is sooo funny when they let one rip and then jump up and look around like "what the heck was that?" Laughing

A couple of weims ago we learned that it was never the food we fed our dog that was the issue, it was the treats. Pig ears, hooves, etc are the very worst.

Once we found the right food for ours, farting became rare. Now farting is the dead giveaway that the stinker has been into the garbage or conned somebody into too many treats.

2kids, haha always know Gabby has gotten into the cat food when she has noxious gas, she never eats it all just enough so I can't tell but a few hours later she's clearing the room
