|
|
hello everyone.
my wife and i have just purchased about a 2 mon old weim. pup. he was born on 4th of july. i have only had is a few hours and i hope you can answer a couple of questions.
he is blue in color, which if i am correct, for show purpose is not desireable. luckily i am not interested in competition.
his eyes seem to drain a bit. it is clear, and to me, not exessive, but they drain.
also his tail, which is cropped, does "perk up" from time to time, but droops most of the time.
and he is skinny. this is apperently becuase his brother, which was thick, was dominent and ate most of the food.
oh, and are all coats silky?
this all may be trivial, but i am curious and thought i would ask people with more experience. i plan to take him to teh vet and have him looked over tomorrow.
thanks everyone.
he is beautiful though. |

| Congrats! I'm sure your puppy will be fine. You are correct that you cannot shoe blues in AKC competitions. As far as the eyes running it could be a bit of an eye infection or a cold or something. They should not run even if it's clear (unless it's just occassionally). As far as the weight goes I would just put him/her on a really good puppy food and you should see the weight come on in no time. Make sure you take a poop sample with you to the vet so they can check for parasites and worms. Good luck! |

| Jus re-read your post and it's a "he" (heehee). I'm not quite sure what you mean by the tail? And if they are not given a good quality food their coats will not be as soft and silky as those that are. There are also some medical conditions which would cause the coat to be dry. We would love to see him! Post some pics when you get a chance. |

You mentioned you only have had him for a few hours...if his tail is down it's probably just because he's unsure of all his new surroundings. It's also the first time he's been away from his brothers and sisters so he's probably a bit scared!
I'm sure he'll settle in just fine! |

Congrats on your new blue bundle of joy, energy and wonderful weimaraner fun that you will encounter for many days to come!
Enjoy the peace at the moment, once he breaks himself in and knows he is part of the family and he is there to stay, look out, you will have more fun then you know what to do with!

everyone seems very positive and that relieves me a great deal.
actually we took him out to our parents house, lots of land and two very excited and lovable labs. he interacted very well with them both especially the female was very attentive.
he is doing very well so far. the only thing i have noticed is he walks a bit crooked....im not sure but i think it may be a puppy thing.
i will post pics tomorrow when i can take a photo of him.
-maybe i am simply over concerned. -thanks again. |

We first got Wilson when he was about 3 mo and we also noticed that he walked crooked. I was concerned at first, but then realized that his legs and feet were just to big for his body! He was very clumsy at first...he will grow out of it! |

i was hoping it was because of his over sized feet, haha, they are huge! everyone's comments have given me a lot of relief. the breeder did say that if the pup didnt check out clean at the vet, he would take him back. but, with what i have read here and seen with him, he is awesome....already beginning to fetch!
tahnks again |

Congrats on your new weimababy!!!
The eyes should not drain, the weight - ehh. Jack used to look as though we were starving him LOL once he turned one he put on some weight and looks great now.
The coat will shine and be healthy with a high grade quality food...
The tail ~ I think its a personality thing. LOL Jack walks with his down all the time. Once and awhile he'll perk up when he's super excited, but otherwise, when he's just hanging out his is usually down. |
