Weimaraner Addict

Jax got neutered yesteday. He's fine - doesn't seem to be bothering him, but he managed to figure out how to lick the incision last night while I was sleeping, even with the e-collar on. It looks like there was some bleeding - there is dried blood on his inner thighs. The incision itself looks ok, a few spots that are red and raw-looking where he may have pulled it open a little. I'm going to call the vet this morning when they open to make sure but any suggestions for how to make sure he can't lick it when I'm gone? He'll be in the crate all day starting Monday when I go back to work. Thanks.

Try putting a pair of shorts on him. You can pin the waist to make them stay on better. Not to Jax though

Yep, agreed with the shorts, like some mens undies as well would work. Rocky had no bleeding at all, his was laser neuter and the cut is about 1 inch, I was amazed actually at how small it was. I have been up with him for 3 nights now trying to keep him from licking and it has worked. I have to say I am crancky as hell from lack of sleep today though. LOL

wrap his paw.. it will give him something more annoying to chew off.. without damaging the suture line.
of course, i found this out accidentally when Hooch was nuetered.. slit his pad wide open 2 days before, so while he was under, i had them wash it out really good and wrap it.. he was at that bandage.. made him almost forget about the neuter and hernia repair.. try it..

Thanks for the great ideas! We've been taking the e-collar off while we are home and can watch him but I am going to try the shorts since he has to be in the crate tomorrow.
