| On the recipe for Satin Balls, is the hamburger served raw? I get nervous serving raw to the dogs, but my husband tells me in the wild no animal has an oven. |

There is nothing wrong with feeding dogs raw food. My guys love raw...especially their chicken wings. Raw hamburger is a delicacy and so is chicken livers and hearts...yum.
Dogs have much shorter digestive systems than we do.....do they don't normally get things like salmonella and such. In the wild they eat all sorts of rotten stuff. My dogs love nothing better than fresh wild rabbit although I usually have to treat for tapeworms shortly after. |

Just wanted to give an update on my little man...he is doing great! I've had him a little over 1 week and he already looks 'smoother' with a little fat under his skin. You can still see his ribs, but the skin doesn't sink in between the ribs. Hip/pelvic bones aren't as pronounced. He's still eating pretty fast, but we put a soup can in the bowl and that has helped. He's doing better taking treats from hands, he's more gentle and I don't feel like I'm going to lose a finger. His attitude astounds me! The ability that dogs have to forgive humans for treating them so poorly is incredible! He's a champ when it comes to pack order in our home. My 9yo female is a laid back alpha and my newly adopted foster casualty, Miley (18mths to 2yrs..unsure) who is a little more bossy make sure he knows he comes after them. But, from what I've seen of males...and this is only the 2 I've fostered in my home...is that they just don't care as much as females.
Anyway, I digress. He is making progress, that's the most important thing! |
